I had completed all my driving lessons. And I have always ask my instructor, "what am I looking at from the mirror?" "At what angel or how do I know I am at the right direction?". There is no answer to my question. He told me, " is your judgement, is a feeling." I couldn't get my parking right until this morning, I am so upset and stress, I really have no idea what should I look out for or what am I looking at from the mirror, and my test is happening next Monday! Asked my husband this method, it looks like the one he uses but he does it 'automatically' and can’t explain it to me and both instructors taught me the 3 car method too but I could never get my head around it and in reality, someone WILL knick my space as I drive pass it, so I can't thank you enough!!!👍
@Sskim-ue6 Жыл бұрын
SAME. 3yrs been driving and never had to or chose to do one. Have you accomplished it yet?
@MegaMum2three3 жыл бұрын
You always describe things in the most detail and make it clear. Other videos just show you the manoeuvre which doesn’t help me. I’m going to watch this video several times until this sinks in! I haven’t been taught to park using reverse 45° method. I passed in Dec and hate parking, mostly because I’m anxious and not confident at doing it. I don’t feel the 90° is practical, although I reverse into my driveway using 90° angle (but it’s not busy like a supermarket carpark!) I want to be able to teach myself to park but it’s likely I may have to get lessons with an instructor if I can’t do it. Being anxious about parking ruins the whole driving experience for me as I’m anxious the whole journey thinking about how I’m going to park! This is why I need to crack it. People tell me it’ll come with time but I’m impatient as I know as soon as I crack this I’ll feel better about driving.
@ConquerDriving3 жыл бұрын
The more you do it the better you will get. It may be wise to reason with the source of the anxiety, I would guess it's more to do with people watching you and waiting for you than the ability to get into the space? People still have to wait for me to park and I will rarely do it in one, I like to go out straight and use the mirrors to make sure I'm central before going back again to finish.

Thanks for all your helpful videos. Since getting a manual car, I've nearly given up on bay parking (unless I can get one of the end bays closest to the exit) and strictly parallel park and I don't care if I have to walk a km! However, since watching this video and your forward bay parking video, I'm willing to give bay parking a chance again. I find parking in my 2011 Toyota Aygo much harder than when I had a sedan sized (automatic) 1986 Buick Century.
@ConquerDriving3 жыл бұрын
Yes totally agree, little cars like the Aygo are more challenging to park than larger cars. It's counter intuitive but that's what I find. To be fair I think it's because it's easier to control more expensive cars as they generally have better pedal sensitivities and more parking aids like reverse sensors, cameras and auto dipping mirrors. Size plays a small factor in how difficult a car is to park, most cars only vary by 20cm in width anyway.

Fun fact. I watched a different video from another youtuber/instructor. And he thought the 3 lane forward method like you showed. Honestly I tried it and yes it does work. But 100% of the time, the reference won't work on all cars due to different car dimensions. But it does work. So I went with my brother and tested it myself and it did work. Then my brother brought up that it might not work always. Then he pointed a single lone separate parking bay in front of Wren's Kitchen store and told me how can I park if it did not have 3 lanes as reference. I said I dunno. We switched up, and he showed me the same method you are showing in the video ! And I learned how to reverse that way. I didn't necessarily have to do the full lock to Angle On as I did not wanna enter the bays in front/there are cars in the bay in front. But still did the angle (shallow at times), and followed the same steps and making sure I am going into the bay. Just keep looking at the mirror while still observing. Honestly your maneuver videos are really good. Simply because you actually show what you see in the mirrors.

Parking on left side 1. stop when you feel like you are sitting outside the middle of the spot you want 2. Turn your side mirrors down *specifically the left one* 3. Steer all the way away from the space you want (all the way to the right) 4. Get the second line to have a small space between you and the car 5. Get close to the bay (get the line to be just at the bottom of the mirror) 6. Get angle off (steer all the way to the left) 7. Come back slowly until car is parallel to the line 8. Straighten the wheel and come back slowly until you are in the parking spot fully:) Parking on right Do the same except use your right mirror this time Step 3 changes to steering all the way left Step 6 changes to steer all the way to the right

I hope so, I really don't agree with the first way as you can't see where you are and will only work in one specific car.

@@natashatribe4676 great news, shame he won't accept dry steering, it's not a problem on the test and will make your life a lot easier. I've been doing it for 150,000 miles in my current leaner car with no problems.

Haha, that 'third line' method is how I learned, which I found very hard to translate to my parents' car, and is impossible to use for our personal parking space because -there is no line-. This really helps!

Can you do a video with “ the different Show Me” questions that can be asked in the current UK driving test please? There ARE existing “Show me” , and “Tell me” videos on KZbin , which to a degree have been helpful, but for many questions the video doesn’t pause for long enough or give a clear enough view of , for example, the controls I would need to press inside the car to switch on the rear demister. (There are other examples which I can’t currently remember!) I have tried pausing the video myself but it just doesn’t show the symbols/controls clearly enough for me to be confident that I could answer correctly in the test. Thank you. You have gained a new subscriber by the way! :)

I passed my test recently in Taiwan (where I live) and the lessons are nothing like in the UK. They also used the sticker method you mentioned, which I agree hasn't helped me at all when it comes to parking the car. So now I am petrified of parking as the car I have been given to use is ginormous, and most the parking spaces in Taiwan are tiny or the car park is full, and you have to squeeze into the one space left no one wanted. I will be practicing this way of parking in a car park this weekend. Thanks.

@Borboleta12125 жыл бұрын
Hi, once again thank you for these extremely helpful videos - I’m watching a lot of these daily in the hope that they will sink into my subconscious before my next lesson! :) I have another question...one thing I feel quite nervous about when doing a reversing manoeuvre is that say for example, a dog or a very young child was directly behind the car , they would probably not be visible in the back window or the mirrors due to their height. An older child, adult or cyclist would obviously know to get out of the way and that this would be a dangerous place to stand so they wouldn’t remain there, but a young child or dog might not move in time. Am I overthinking this? Lol
@ConquerDriving5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your praise. I would not say you're overthinking this, these thoughts have entered my mind. There is an element of risk in everyday life and this is one of the risks. However it is an unlikely one as if you're aware of your surroundings you would likely see the kid or dog approaching and go out of view behind your car. Also, most animals and children won't let a car run over them, they will move out of the way, that's why it's important to go slowly to give them time to move if you have missed them. But you are right, you can't completely negate risk only reduce it as much as possible. I personally decide not to worry about things that are out of my control.

The best driving lessons available on KZbin, no question. I have a small question, why isn't there a universal rule for driving a car anywhere you want? Why we need practise all those things separately? I might be dumb, but looking at good drivers, they just know, whatever the situation is, to get out of it and drive safely, what is that? What do they have? How do they do it?
@ConquerDriving3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I'm not sure what you mean about a universal rule. Road infrastructure has been built gradually over the course of more than a century, limited space and money means they have to improvise with road layouts. Rules are there to help keep you safe and help traffic flow but don't always work well, if you are careful and thoughtful you will probably be OK. If you try to be rigid you will have problems.
@upulaherath72043 жыл бұрын
@@ConquerDriving No, no not those rules, I meant the art of driving a car, do we have train for each and every scenario like parallel parking, forward parking, overtaking etc. Why can't there be a single principle that we can use to suit all the scenarios? I mean it is like putting carpets everywhere rather than putting a shoe on your feet, I hope you get my idea
