I passed my driving test 13 years ago which had 14 minors. I failed the first time with a major and on both occasions I had gotten the same examiner. Anyway, no accidents in those 13 years of driving and I have even driven in other Countries where the vehicle had the steering wheel on the left hand side. Once you pass your driving test don’t look back and enjoy driving.

You're the best driving instructor on youtube. I was watching this bald guy and he was so arbitrary with his driving protocols. Being like "every 8 seconds check all your mirrors" and "shoulder check every time you move laterally." When practicing it was causing even more or a distraction cuz I was too busy checking mirrors and wasnt even fully aware of what was going on in front of me. I really appreciate how in one of your videos you said something like "you need to use the mirrors that are relevant to the information you need to know in that situation." So thank you for being more practical and logical in your driving instruction. It took a lot of stress off me from worrying about checking mirrors arbitrarily when I'm already aware of the vehicles around me.

Biggest tip is don't get nervous most people can easily pass the uk driving test if they don't get nervous. I failed on my first attempt as I got nervous and the car rolled back a lot. So that'll be my biggest tip imagine the examiner is your instructor or parent that can help calm your nerves a lot.

Sadly i drive an old, 87 Fiero with original engine in it. As much as your videos helped me learn to drive a manual, i wish i could find a teacher with an older classic car :( It needs a little extra help in certain areas, like taking off etc. It stalls much easier lol I imagine because the engine is old. Hello, I’ve got a test coming up next month and I’m unsure about going into bus lanes when not in operation. My instructor has told me that if a bus lane isn’t in operation and I don’t go in it, then it’s a fail. He says this is because the bus lane should be treated as a normal left lane when not in use, and also may show to the examiner that you’re not reading road signs. However, others I’ve spoken to, some passed too, have not heard of this or have been told to avoid bus lanes altogether. What are people’s views on this? Thank you so much! :)

It depends if it's a dual carriageway. If it's a dual carriageway then you should be in the left lane unless you are overtaking or need the lane for your intended direction.

UK driving rules and tests are ridiculously stringent. 99% of people just learn the rules for the test and then forget about them when they start driving because the rules are totally over the top which makes people dismiss them as nonsense. I believe the pedantic-ness actually makes people worse drivers.

I don't believe you can do your test in a van due to lack of visibility for the examiner. Same with many convertible cars. The car needs to have front and rear seats.

Mounting the kerb is most likely a fail and you don't have to stop at an unmarked crossing you just have to be slow enough that it is safe and you stop safely if you need to

Is there anyone who failed the test for not being environmentally friendly for once ?? I feel that no matter what your skill, the pass solely depends on your examiner. In a 50 road, there was a roundabout which speed limit is 30. I had to stop at the roundabout, and soon after passing it, there was a hill that became 50 again. To gain that speed, I had to downshift and accelerate. !! That's my serious fault!! That one gear shift just once. There was another minor for signalling early. That's all. So guys , I believe it's too harsh. You assess a driver for 40 minutes and fail on not being environmentally friendly just for one time 😂 That's a joke ! They try to maintain 53% pass rate. That's all. No matter how much you train, wish for a good examiner as well

I'm sorry to hear that, it's a hard video for me to make as I'm sure if I tried to film it there would be no cyclists around. But a bit of advice, follow as close as you can whilst feeling like you could stop if they fell off without hitting them (most new drivers stay very far back making it hard to pass), when you pass them give them enough room to fall off, only pass them when you're sure you will be able to do it safety within the speed limit. Don't feel pressured from the car behind and do it in your own time.

Oh dear, Oh dear, oh dear. How often do i see seasoned drivers to handle stop signs like a "give way" -> simply (just somewhat slowly) rolling along while looking. And "give way" situations like first come first serve. Most important lesson i have learned since i started driving: Never, under any circumstances, trust anyone out there to abide by the rules. I failed yesterday because of low speed on countryside road and signaling too early. It was rainy and I was driving at 30-38 mph on the countryside road. I signaled 3 times early, one of them there was a short line on the sat nav, I didn't think it would be a junction, so I signaled then cancelled it and re-signaled again after passing it. The second signaling was wrong, I didn't notice it. The third one was 300yds before a roundabout but there was no junctions before it.

Okay so about that waiting area... in your example, there's that white van in front and he's about to turn in. You pull in the waiting area, but there was a vehicle waiting at the junction to turn right and cross your path. Is it best practise to wait and let them out or for me to continue in the waiting area and turn in when it is clear?

It's up to you if you giveway to a car when it's your priority. But it's not a good idea to encourage cars to go when there are other cars they need to wait for.
