I’ve just passed my test in January but I’ve hardly been out in car since😬 I have no confidence and feel as if I’m not in control ( the cars alot older than my instructors new 21 plate auto handbreak no t much gas to go etc) but I’m really struggling in it I’ve got the fear I’m always going to stall and I can’t get over it. Any advice 🤞
@artemkatelnytskyi2 жыл бұрын
@@keld2701 I guess the option to take a couple of lessons with a driving instructor, or an experienced driver is always there. Although, it is better to go to an instructor, because if you drive with a family member it can be very awkward. They may not even know _how_ to help, even though they are good at driving. Or just take it slow and practice 😃.
@keld27012 жыл бұрын
@@artemkatelnytskyi cheers I think that’s been the problem I’ve went out with family member and I think it’s made me even more nervous I need to try and go out in the car myself but my nerves are getting the better of me. The thought of stalling fills me with dread 😬
@artemkatelnytskyi2 жыл бұрын
@@keld2701 Going out with an instructor definitely takes that pressure off. And also if you practice on their car they have dual controls which will hopefully make you feel even more secure.

One thing i learned is learning what gear you will need at the junction you are approaching. Some roundabouts let you be in 3rd gear, other that are smaller usually will need gear 2 like doing 90 degree turns. I feel like once you understand what you will be doing, you will learn to prepare for it. So if you know you are turning you will slow to second gear before hand making it easier to drop to first gear if for example a person is crossing. Pre planning is very good skill to have in driving, it is what i feel to be the main skill

This was a great video and very informative. Thanks. Regarding going down the gears one at a time. That is a way my instructor taught me, and once I was more confident I would drive my own car with friends and family. They told me that I was making things more complicated and just to go into 2nd as I slow down instead of down to 4th, then 3rd and into 2nd. When I was back with my instructor I came up to a junction and slowed down, I was in 4th and skipped 3rd straight to 2nd and my instructor yelled at me for it. Saying "I don't know where that's come from but I haven't taught you to do that" and made me feel like I had done something wrong.

Even if your videos are designed for UK learners (because of the driving in left side of the road), they are still very useful for the rest of the world as they address exactly the questions learners have in mind. For instance, i have already my license because of how easy it is to get it in my country but i still watch your videos because there are still many things that are not obvious for me. I tried to watch different channels that drive on the right side but either they omit some useful details that they think are obvious or they are drifting away from the main subject with too much talk.

This video highlights the time honoured tradition of ensuring that the driver tracks the speed and gear together all the time... thereby insuring that the car is in the correct gear prior to it being asked to accelerate, (or de- accelerate) which leaves the hands and brain free for dealing with other things. Also by developing the "hand muscle memory" of always pushing the gear lever forward as the car passes through walking pace to standstill will ensure that the moment the vehicle is stationery your hand can be on the handbrake, and you are ready to find the throttle/biting point and ready to go. Even if you get distracted whilst sitting there, the car is in the correct configuration to move off for when you get your act together!!😉👍
