In this vlog we take on an "experts only" MTB trail in the famous bike region of Saalbach. A black graded MTB trail that delivers thrills, technical riding and scary moments!
The Bergstadl trail is known among riders in the area as one of the more technical trails there.
Nestled in the heart of the alps, this trail offers breathtaking views and fear inducing descents! From steep rock gardens to technical features and chutes, this trail has it all.
As we navigate down this expert's only MTB trail, you'll witness the 4K footage from our POV and the fear as we did!
We spent a week riding in this region on our enduro bikes and spent a day at the Epic Leogang Bikepark as well as a couple of days here.

Awesome vid guys! Such a wide variation in the term “expert” when it comes to trails. Austrian ski slopes are always generally a grade above everywhere else in Europe. Really Well ridden, looked awful, some serious exposure! My favourite trick is forgetting to record when the anxiety level rises 😂

thanks! Agree with that. Expert trails could be like a blue in one country and black in another! It did have lots of committed sections where a mistake could be a long roll down 😂

I was thinking how great the trail waz till it got very gnarley, i bet that trail is seriously tricky when wet. Got to say the views are stuning, there is a place called Livingno not to far away that i would love to ride.

Yeah we were saying that to each other too - in the wet those root sections would be insanely hard! It was a beautiful place to ride 🙂. Have heard of Livignio and seen some stunning pictures too. I’m sure that would be an amazing place to ride

Haha the one moment that should have been on video. Tam went about 50 metres over chunky rocks with both feet straight out the sides 😂. Thanks! We’d love to go there. Hopefully we make it in the next couple of years!

Probably all the more difficult because it seemed relentlessly technical. Off the rocks and into the roots, or tight steep switchbacks, or exposure... Tire companies must love trails with sharp rocks like those alpine trails - even with no flats, it probably wears the rubber 10x faster than dirt.

Yeah lots of different stuff going on all the way down! Ah yeah, all the rock and dust does wear them much quicker than the soft Scottish mud we usually ride! Back to that soon!

Terrifying... yeah Tam's pink troosers 😂. Did you have to replace your brake pads after doing that? Think I could've managed the last 30 metres though. Well played though because as well as being very actually difficult I think the mountain optics make it seem even more so.

Hahah it’s a vibe 😂. The brake pads are definitely wearing quicker after a few days of this riding and our braking 😆. Yeah there’s a decent bit of exposure on some sections and it’s pretty chunky in bits!
