As a new father my pig of a GQ has been sold and we just picked up a mint 1hdt 80 series for that extra added comfort for the young family. Still tackle some harder tracks but now its all about the trips

No, I didn't get a flat on this trip, but I did on the next visit. Having 2 spares is definitely good security!

What a trip! If I may ask, how long would you typically drive before taking a stop for the kiddos to run for a bit? I'd love to tackle a longer trip with my kids-

I'm 17, but I go travelling with my parents and 10 year old sister often who still gets restless. We tend to stop every 3-4 hours for a quick pit stop.
@TorrentialReign
@TorrentialReign 7 жыл бұрын
yeah, we tend to have stops every 3-4 hrs, and always encourage the kids to run riot and burn up energy when not in the car. when in the car, some of our friends have plenty of videos for the kids, but since weve never done that, our kid has just learnt how to entertain himself and enjoy the drive!

nice video mate what was the fuel budget in the 80 series? im looking to do a trip in my 80 in February before uni starts (1991 1hz non turbo gxl twin locked and all the fruit) would be a round trip from wagga nsw

+thetassieboys Sounds like you've got a good truck for the job. Mine's the 1HZ as well and I was carrying over 230 litres going into the Simpson (playing it safe). I doubt I used more than 150 litres by the time we hit Birdsville, but I wasn't really keeping track.

+Torrential Reign films so really i want the full stock tanks 95 (93 usable) main 55 (52 usable) sub and 2x 20L jerrys if i dont go before uni i might look at putting a 95L (113L initial fill) LRA sub tank that bit extra without having that horrible low hanging tank like the 180L ones. about $1200 Would also be a bit hard to find someone to go with at such short notice lol

Is there a snake problem in the desert whilst traveling? Or any wildlife danger.....
@TorrentialReign
@TorrentialReign 7 жыл бұрын
You do have to be very aware of the potentially dangerous animals, including snakes and dingos etc. But as long as your careful, especially with kids running around, its OK.

Wrong-- the worlds largest sand dune desert is the Namib desert in Namibia Africa, not not the Simpson desert ------
@TorrentialReign
@TorrentialReign 7 жыл бұрын
Hi there. My understanding is that Namibia has the 'highest sand dune', but as a whole, the Simpson desert is the 'largest sand dune desert'.
@klauszungler4644
@klauszungler4644 7 жыл бұрын
No--- the Simpson desert is only a half dune desert and the other half is gravel--- look on google image-- the Namib desert is all dunes with not a bush in it....

From wikipedia: "The Simpson Desert is a large area of dry, red sandy plain and dunes in Northern Territory, South Australia and Queensland in central Australia.[1][2][3] It is the fourth largest Australian desert, with an area of 176,500 km2 (68,100 sq mi) and is the world's largest sand dune desert.[4]" Also according to wikipedia, the Namib desert, whilst containing some of the highest dunes in the world, is only 81,000km2. If you don't agree with that, take it up with Wikipedia :)
