I`m hiking the interior of Iceland since over 3 dacades in all Seasons I will do the same trip but, starting in middle of September ( so in a Fortnight ) from Akureyri far more in the West and finishing in Skogar at the South Coast around 8th of October. I love the wastland interiour of Iceland, especially Sprengisandur when I hike out of Main Season. It is so calm, no mass Tourism anymore. just you and the Power of Nature. Im counting the days. In late Winter , End of April 2012 I started also in the South of Myvatn and hiked the exact same Route like you, even choose the same bed in Botni Hut to rest like you did. But from Botni Hut i went directly into West direction for a few miles to get around the northern tip point of huge tricky block lava fields and went down in to south direction on the other side of it crossing the "Utbruni flate Lave Fields" to reach the F910. I hiked in a havy snow storm (instead of a sandstorm like you ) most of the time that day, and when I reached the F-Road I had to camp there for 2 days, because the Weather was that bad. But after that....weather became lovely and sunny again. It was an ABSOLUTELY AWESOME HIKE. I reached Landmannalaugar 8-9 days later. I was all also on my own for 14 days. First person I met, was when I reached to the tarmack section of F26 again. Three questions to you: Could you recharge your drone Batteries just with the Solar Panels.... Or did you carry spare Batteries And where was the exact location, where you have had to hide from the sandstorm. I would guess it was half the way in between Askja Area and Tungnafellsjökull area near F26 central Spregiasandur / Nyidalur hut. Am I right For this kind of bad weather I always carry a signal red or orange boothybag with me ( you could hide in it with all your gear and sitout a situation like this for a few hours, or hide from havy rain or snow to have a short rest without freezing). Also it is made out of a bit more tough material, then this ultra light weight body bag you had to use. Just google it. I use a 2 Person Boothybag for me alone. But you could get it in sizes of 4,6,8 Persons as well. And did you use a Garmin inReach or a PLB for your Emergancy Call THX and always stay save

Amazing video! I’m planning on hiking almost the same hike this summer and was therefore wondering how you did with food during the hike? Did you send parcels or did you carry everything? Greatful for any information! ☺️

Hi, I carried everything, but my advice would be to send parcels at the Drekki camp first and maybe another at Landmanalaugar.
