I think this scene says a lot about the reason why Conrad and Belly fit together and work better together. The way Conrad and Belly can be so in sync and focus on a goal they want to reach while achieving it together is something her and Jeremiah can't do as easily. Even looking at Conrad and Belly's expressions and how happy they were when playing together says a lot. Conrad barely smiled this season and this scene alone he was happier than most, same with Belly. Even the handshake shows how connected they are. When she was playing with Jeremiah all he was focused on was her, which is fine, but she wanted him focused on her goal. Conrad saw that and together they achieved it and won. Conrad was there for Belly, as usual when she needed it. Remember the muffin scene and dance lesson scene? Even before this summer, when Belly turned "pretty", Conrad was always willing to be there for Belly and help her. Meanwhile Jeremiah treated her differently before this summer. That is why the two of them won this game. It was winning in a sense for them as a couple. That's why they work better together. ❤

I think this could even become a foreshadowing of why... spoilers here for book readers!.... For why Jelly will fail to work in the third season. (Assuming we hopefully get a S3 that focuses on book 3. SPOILERS ahead in this too.) Jeremiah and Belly initially work together and have their "honeymoon" phase. But, reality sets in, and the rose-colored glasses come off FAST. As they navigate a real future together with their engagement and possible marriage, their differences gradually kill their romance as they were out of sync for the big moments together. And their constant differences make Belly realize they're incompatible together. Making her realize they're meant to be FRIENDS in the long run, not a couple. Conrad was better for her as they share similar viewpoints about all serious matters that make a difference in a couple's life together. She and Conrad were always in sync together and able to work towards a shared goal together. Even apart they were "together". They understood each other where it mattered most and it was that connection that allowed them to finally thrive when their timing was right.

Totally agree. Conrad's mother laid too much responsibility on his shoulders and that was the major reason for his distance. I think he is such a great guy who loves Jeremiah so much that he sacrificed his love for Belly to please him...

What I liked most in the volleyball tournament is that Taylor's plan backfires. She pretended that she injured herself so she could be replaced by Jere. She shouldn't have done that. She knew how important winning the tournament was for Belly. In season 1, she interfered a lot more than she should. But you can't avoid the inevitable. Connied baby forever 💙♾️

If you really think about it Jeremiah honestly does not deserve better, in the books he cheated on belly and tried to make up to her for it by proposing Jeremiah does not deserve better he deserves someone else he and belly just aren’t it for each other in the video you can see the difference between Conrad and Jeremiah. Jeremiah wasn’t really focused on the game and was looking at belly the whole time which is fine, but belly wanted him to focus cause she wanted to win, but Jeremiah couldn’t do that. Conrad saw how much belly wanted that trophy and focused on the game. You can how in sync they are, they just work better together
