This must have been late 98 or early 99 because of the weird consist with the C40-8w and SD45-2 as well as the consist with the NS Darth Vader in primer paint and the the one with the SD70 standard cab in the lead. Wish NS hadn't done the hostile takeover and CSX hadn't been greedy and tricked Conrail into an ill fated marriage. Shouldve stayed independent and let the others step on their own toes trying to make a transcon.

I definitely AGREES!!!! Truth be told NS nor CSX Could hang with Conrail!!!! Conrail ran a more robust efficient railroad.

I miss Big Blue too. Very great railroad to railfan. Very friendly and lots of fun, plus you don't hear Leslie horns anymore.

Took the good looking old hood units for granted. Lots of them still around, but mainly downgraded to switching yards. And, SD50s/SD60s here. Stands to reason those 3600/3800 hp brutes were assigned to heavy steel and coal trains. Entertaining vid!

last time I was at mckinley, there was a tower there. i remember seeing trains being shoved on the rear with switchers of all things! fairhope once also had a tower.
