Thanks for sharing this footage. My late grandpa was a PRR engineer (he retired soon after the Penn Central mess began) and ran freight from Columbus to Indie mostly when I was a kid. It is fascinating to see a bit of what he saw from the cab of his engines!

5:46 is in Fort Wayne on the PRR main at the Hadley/Bass Rd. crossing. The train is headed east. This area looks different today and the intersection has been converted to a roundabout. 14:56 is Caledonia, OH.

@@wmuzeke I thought it was Caledonia but didn't want to say for sure and be wrong. I guess it's an eastbound running wrong main?

@@RailroadMediaArchive That's a westbound on the westbound main. If you look at the first few frames of the sequence, you can see the eastbound bridge is just to the right of the locomotive. There was a westbound siding that started there, as well - the track splitting off in the foreground. The building on the right with the clock tower is the town hall.

Liked the GE U-Boat & ALCO power featured in these old recordings. Hope you had a Merry Christmas.

3:01 This is the result of deferred maintenance. Tracks so badly in need of repair, that we risk derailment, and perhaps human lives every time we run our trains over. 15:34 Since we have to use it, we have no funds for repair, we run our trains at reduce speeds, often 8 or 10 miles per hour.

The 6 minute mark looks like Valparaiso, IN. on the Fort Wayne Line

At 7:30, the location may be Pine on the east side of Indianapolis.

Fascinating. Wish I could have been there. Nice to see freight cars without graffiti on them!
