I don’t think Sunak is particularly terrible, the party was sunk at Covid and we really should have had a GE the moment Boris left. Is Rishi disrespectful to veterans? I'm sorry to say that as a French but Sunak is from a very different cultural background from us and may not have realise the implications of what he did at the time. My grandfather did fight during the war as so many British, American and others. And the minimum is to give them a little respect for their sacrifice and never forget what they went through. But Sunak's grandfather comes from Pakistan and arrived here in 1960 so it's easy to understand that his family history is not liked to what our families went though. I think this should matter when choosing a prime minister. You wouldn't choose me a French for prime minister so how did Rishi get there even if born here.

@@krishnagondhea7428 nope I did my homework 😉 I'll copy and paste the all thing for you here: "Sunak's paternal grandfather was from Gujranwala (in present-day Pakistan[18][19]), while his maternal grandfather was from Ludhiana (in present-day India[20]); both cities at the time were part of the Punjab province in British India. His grandparents migrated to East Africa, and then to the United Kingdom in the 1960s.[21] His father, Yashvir Sunak, was born and raised in the Colony and Protectorate of Kenya (present-day Kenya), and was a general practitioner in the National Health Service. His mother, Usha Sunak, born in Tanganyika (which later became part of Tanzania), was a pharmacist and owned the Sunak Pharmacy in Southampton between 1995 and 2014, and has a degree from Aston University.[12][22] Sunak is the eldest of three siblings.[23] His brother, Sanjay (born 1982), is a psychologist and his sister, Raakhi Williams (born 1985), works in New York as chief of strategy and planning at Education Cannot Wait, the United Nations Global Fund for Education in Emergencies and Protracted Crises."

Tim Montgomerie; former advisor to Johnson! Peddling his usual 'Sunak ius a decent man' guff... Montgomerie is in no position to pass judgement on anyones 'decency', What criteria is he using? What kind of standard is he using here to grade Sunak's level of decency? Montgomerie is wheeled out far too often by political commentators to spout this nonsense.

Rishi Sunak is the son of immigrants who arrived here some time after WW2. As far as he and his family are concerned D Day is something that happened the other side of the world. They had 'no skin in the game' so to speak. For him it is an historical event, to a Brit it is close to home with many parents and grand parents involved to one degree or another. To the son of an immigrant it has little resonance.
