Alexander Dyer Nice job running the machine. Last time I used the presser foot knee lift I stupidly stepped on the clutch instead and ended up almost stitching thru my finger... Needless to say I see you don't do that :)

Man, if they are, I haven't been able to find any. I bought mine for $40 in Nebraska last year and it only had welting feet. Been trying to find other feet for it and keep coming up dry.

Hi great video mate I've just bought my first sewing machine to learn auto upholstery, its a Consew SK-8 (Has "Seiko" cast into the base) is mine the same as this Consew 28 ? I cant seem to find any footage of one like mine unfortunately.

So... I bought one of these because it was $40. Great deal, right? And its nice. But the ONLY feet that came with it was what was on it, a right-side welting foot. Id sure love to get more, but these seem to be some obsolete standard and nobody carries them. Anyone have any thoughts for me, I'd surely love to know!

Thank you. No, it is not triple feed. It is double feed. 1. walking foot. 2 needle feed.

Hi Alexander, I commented on your other video with the Consew 206-RB. Thanks for the response. I think you are right, I just need to change the tension. Obviously the stitches you are making here are very nice. I noticed at 1:30 when you raise the foot your tensioner is doing something. I just looked at this on my machine today and didn't see that same behavior. I'm not sure if I was using the "leg lifter", I may have just been putting it up and down via the lever on the back of the machine. I don't think that would make a difference but I'm not sure. I'll have to test it. Any ideas? ), Also, when manually making stitches by hand turning, the machine is very hard to turn. I removed the belt and it spins freely and smoothly. So I think it's the clutch on the motor. The motor doesn't seem to have any problems and the clutch engages just fine. I noticed if I press the foot pedal slightly (clutch not quite yet engaged), that will help to turn it manually. I think there are some adjustments that can be made with the pedal linkages that I'll try adjusting and that may help. Have you ever seen that before? Any thoughts on what could be causing it? When set up correctly the tension releases when the foot is raised for easy removal of your work. The clutch motor has a brake and that is what is causing you difficulty. By slightly depressing the pedal you are releasing the brake. This is how it should work.

Alexander, Are you a machine mechanic? My Consew needle feed 224 has a stitch length range of numbers on a shaft ranging from 3 - 24 which are visible through a round viewing port on the face of the machine. I know how to adjust the length. My machine won't allow me to set it to 4 or 3 as if it's stuck or rusted. The manual on Consew' website doesn't address stitch length for a 224 machine. When I set the stitch length to the lowest setting the machine stops around #5 and I get a measured stitch length of about 5 stitched per inch. I'd like to believe that an adjustment will allow my needle feed 224 to stitch at 3 per inch.

Alexander, great close-ups showing showing your work. Is a Unison walking foot the same as a Needle feed walking foot? Are these terms interchangeable? Merci.

This machine only has two forms of feed: needle and foot, there is no drop feed. Unison feed, Compound feed, Triple feed are all interchangeable terms, they all have three forms of feed. needle, foot and drop.

+veltboy314 Smooth feet don't leave marks as bad. Some models have them available for purchase or you can file down the teeth yourself.

It is more critical on some machines and thread setups but you are correct in your inclination to hold the threads at the beginning. It is a good habit to develop so that you never have an issue and your seams will always start off clean and neat.

Most industrial machines will handle threads of that size, including the 227. Make sure you are using the correct size needle.

excuse me. you can't use 'needle feet' and 'walking foot' together. If there is a walking foot, it can't be needle feed. needle feed is 'no moving foot, just feeding with feed dog and needle'.

This subject can be a little bit muddled since different manufacturers use different terminology for the same things. It is understandable though since these things are made around the globe. An industrial sewing machine can have any combination of feeding mechanisms or none at all. A manual embroidery machine has no feeding mechanism and a drop feed machine has just one. A needle feed moves the fabric as the needle is plunged into it. Conversely, a simple drop feed moves the fabric when the needle is up and out of the fabric. In a needle feed the needle swings fore and aft as well as up and down. So the needle itself is a feeding component. In a triple feed machine the foot, feed dog and the needle all work in unison to move the fabric. The Rex 26-188 has the "top and bottom feed" which is walking foot and feed dog but no needle feed. My Brother sewing machine has needle feed and drop feed with a stationary foot. Lots of combinations out there and it may seem confusing but it mainly boils down to three forms of fabric feeding, foot/needle/dog (there are exceptions of course) I hope I have been clear on this and explained it thoroughly. In general terminology, consew 206 is a classic ''unison feed''. consew 28 is ''walking foot with no feed dog''. rex26 is ''double foot'' which means 'walking foot and feed dog pulls the material simultaneously when needle is out'. and your Brother is a true ''needle feed''.
