You’re a star and the ONLY ONE who demonstrated the “adjust and turn the grinder while it’s grinding”. Major help because it would seem odd to turn the knob in grind. I set mine to 3 and I’m making improvements on the “puck” strength instead of the watery ick! Hahaha Thx!!

Hey Nick. . . My name is Kevin and I have the exact machine. I’ll help you a little if that’s ok. If you feel on the top of the grinder knob, there are little raised dots/ bumps. If you look very close (with your cell phone camera or even under good lighting) the raised dots go from big to small as you look clock wise or left to right. (Standing in front of the machine). Then while standing in front of the machine or on the side where the water tank is .. if you turn the knob clock wise, you are making the grind more course , if you’re turning it counter clock wise you are making it more fine. My suggestion is to be somewhere around the 3rd or 4th notch and you would be good for almost any type of bean. You can use the feel of the end of your finger over the raised bumps to see where you are or like I said above, look closely on the top of the knob. I hope this helps you bud.. Stay safe and Happy Brewing. P.S. I will say that it would definitely help even to colour those little raised bumps a lighter or white colour.

Hi Nick, Thanks for the details Kevin, yes you are correct. For great results using a nonoily bean the grinder at level 4 is ideal. As Kevin said, there are little dots. If you look closely, the finest setting is 1 and the coarsest is 12. The dots go from small (fine grind) to large (coarse grind). There is a small little notch on the wall of the grinder itself. When that notch lines up with the grinder knob dot, then that is what grinder setting you are at. Hope that helps.

This is our second K-Classic. We had our first one for many years, so when we had to replace it, we wanted nothing else but this exact kzbin.infoUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf model. We use it for about three people everyday in the morning. The taste and quick brew is one of the reasons we like it so much. There are so many choices of brands of coffee that we would grab what was on sale and test the different brands from there. I would definitely recommend trying different brands of coffee to find the ones you like the most because there are brands that quite frankly taste horrible.

Hi Angie … good to see you, it’s been awhile. Great to see this demo, I actually have this exact Phillips 5400 LatteGo Super Automatic AND I bought it from your Company. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! and it’s made my life so simple. I just wake up, turn on the machine and push my preset personal buttons. While I’m doing some of my wake up chores, my Double Shot Macchiato Latté is being made perfectly for me and is always nice and hot. My ONLY wish is that it had a timer so when I woke up it was already on, warmed up and ready to go. Love love love my Phillips 5400 LatteGo and the amazing service I received from the online staff at Consiglio’s. Did everything from Montreal and had my machine the next day!! We are using Bridgehead Logdriver Espresso medium-roast beans, and have set the temp to high and the strength to max. Unfortunately, espressos are still coming out weak and lacking crema. The manual says not to adjust the grind setting until you have brewed 100-150 drinks - is this something that's important to abide by, or can I change it to "4" now following your instructions? We want to make sure the machine is working to our satisfaction before any return period expires. thanks!

Hey there, thanks for the notes. Please ensure the grinder is set to level 4 or 5. On the wall of the grinder there is a small notch right beside the grinder setting. Level 4 or 5 (from level 1) is the best for optimal results. Make an espresso, then press down on the grinder knob and turn to level 4 or 5 while the grinder is grinding. Next, make a few epsressos to see the difference take place. Thank you!

I love its features but wish I could still find a good combo of settings to make it so it wasn’t so bitter. Also i am trying to figure out which aroma setting is closest to the amount of grounds used in a regular basket on a regular espresso machine. It says higher aroma setting is more grounds but I am trying to match that mount of grounds I would use on my Breville. I have the Philips 3200 and it is currently still on the default setting it came on which I believe is 6.
@Consiglioskitchenware
@Consiglioskitchenware Жыл бұрын
Hey there, thanks for the comments. The taste of the coffee comes from the beans themselves. If there is any bitterness its from the beans. Ensure you are using a nonoily good quality bean. You want to have something with a combo of approx. 10% robusta and 90% arabica for example. The robusta is what gives is a kick and the crema, anything with too much robusta would have a bitter taste. On the Philips, the grinder setting should be at notch 4 - 5 for best results :) Hope that helps!

Hello very clear review thank you. Do I also have to take out that unit on 5:51 weekly when using the waterfilter? In another video a guy said if you go for a coarser grind you can adjust it when the machine is off. Only if you go for a finer grind adjust it when its grinding , is that true?
@Consiglioskitchenware
@Consiglioskitchenware Жыл бұрын
Hi there, Yes, rinsing the brew unit is done weekly. That is the heart of the machine, the 'barista' if you will. Rinsing excess coffee grounds off of it weekly is the way to go. The water filter is for the boiler of the unit not for the brewing unit. Those are two separate areas of the machine. From my experience, we adjust the grinder while the grinder is grinding, regardless if it is finer or courser. I hope that helps. Have a wonderful day! Today it is snowy here in Toronto. So far I’ve been using Costco water for awhile but I want to try something different any recommendations?
@Consiglioskitchenware
@Consiglioskitchenware 5 ай бұрын
Hey there, thanks for the question. It is suggested to use the Philips water filter in the water tank this helps remove excess minerals etc. Tap water should be fine, if you do not want to us that, you can use a filtered water from a Britta filter system for example. Or bottled water will work fine. It is not suggested to use distilled water as all the minerals are fully removed and that can lead to a flat end result beverage. Some minerals are good as they add to the flavour and end result. Thanks for the question.

I use the preground option for my morning cup of full caf coffee because the hopper is full of decaf beans for my husband's morning cappucino (I gave him the 5400 as a gift and he only drinks decaf because as a surgeon he can't risk any shaking). My daughter-in-law gave me a pound of blueberry flavored preground coffee (Gene Hicks) as a gift which sounded gross to me until I tried it. Everyone that I have served this coffee to (all who would never choose to drink flavored coffee) love it. Somehow it works. Anyway, I would like to use this flavored coffee for the preground option, but the manual doesn't recommend using flavored coffee. I wonder, does this apply to the preground option as the machine won't be grinding the beans?
@Consiglioskitchenware

Hey there, great question. Flavoured beans are not recommended as they usually have a coating, can be oily or sticky. Using it in the bypass chute should be fine as it's not passing through the burr grinder. Oily beans are not good for the grinder as the oil builds up over time. Blueberry flavour sounds interesting! I would love to try that one day, next time I see it in the store, I will pick it up. Thanks for the message, enjoy your blueberry coffee!

Hello, I have a 3200 model. Where is the grinder setting "indicator" ... how to I know if it is set at the 4, 6, or 10 setting? Usually there is an "arrow" of some type that you can turn the grinder knob and line up the "grinder knob number" to the fixed "indicator". I don't know if I should be turning the grinder setting clockwise, or counter-clockwise, for a finer grind. Hope this makes sense ... thanks.

Hi Mike, That is a great question. When you are looking at the grinder adjustment knob, to the side of that against the inner wall of the hopper you will see an indicator. It is a small plastic piece that sticks out from the wall, a very small indicator. This is used to identify what grinder knob setting is selected. The grinder knob itself has dots on it, and on each end a number 1 and number 12. Unfortunately, I am not able to attach a photo here as a reply. For best results choose dots number 4-5. Then make a few espresso to see the results take place. I hope the explanation was helpful to you. Hi Robert, Great question. I believe you are referring to the brewing unit, the black heart of the machine. Once per week it is suggested to remove and rinse under tap water to clean. You can pop it right back into the machine after rinsing. No need to completely dry it off, it will come in contact with moisture during the brewing unit anyways. It will air dry when not in use within the machine. I hope that helps clarify. Ciao for now. Hi Noha, Thanks for the questions. If you are using thick coffee cups, that will absorb some of the heat from the freshly brewed beverage. I recommend, especially during winter months to preheat cups. You can do this by pulling some hot water into the cup. Then discard it and use the preheated cup for your beverage. It will allow the drink to stay hot longer. Thank you.

Hi Neeco, thanks for reaching out. I would set the grinder to a finer setting. Start by going down to #4 on the grinder then make 2-3 espresso's so the grinder calibrates. You should see that the bubbling is less because the finer grind will slow down the extraction time. If you are still getting bubbling then go down to #3 or at most #2 on the grinder and try again. Thanks! Angela

@Consiglioskitchenware
@Consiglioskitchenware Жыл бұрын
Hi Anthony, Thanks for reaching out. Changing the grinder to level 4 or 5 is the best setting on the Philips machines. You will then make about 10 espressos to see the difference in beverage quality and the spent pucks. If the pucks are still not holding together, I would recommend trying a different bean. If the beans you are using are too oily, it is not recommended for use with the unit. Too oily beans will be shiny in colour and there will be an oily residue over the beans. Thanks!

Thank you so much for this video! I have the Phillips 3200 and most things seem very similar to your machine. How do you get the crema you're getting? My machine isn't creating such a rich crema. I hope you're having a great day so far!
@Consiglioskitchenware
@Consiglioskitchenware 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jesse, Thanks for the comment! Hope you are keeping well. The crema comes from the type of bean being used. We have a variety of locally roasted beans here at Consiglio's. Fresh, locally roasted, non-oily beans that are not only delicious but safe for automatic machines and grinders. Always avoid oily beans. Link to Fresh Roast Espresso Beans - www.consiglioskitchenware.com/collections/fresh-roast-espresso The Super Crema blend is perfect for milk-based beverages, it has about 90% Arabica and 10% Robusta. Ensure the grinder knob is set to level 4-5 as this too plays a role is overall end results too. I hope these tips are helpful to you. Let me know if you have any other questions :) Ciao for now!

Thank you so much your explanation is amazing, very helpful. Do you think the philips 5400 is better then the Jura e8 for the price?
@Consiglioskitchenware
@Consiglioskitchenware Жыл бұрын
Hi there, Thanks for the questions. The main difference is that the Jura E8 as a full-size Jura machine has a 16-gram brewing unit. This is desirable if you specifically enjoy stronger coffees. This means on the Jura E8 when you max out the strength setting, the machine will grind 16 grams of coffee for that specific beverage. Keep in mind the 5400 has a unique 'extra shot' feature. So that unit will brew 2 shots of espresso for your desired beverage. Both machines are great. The E8 offers some extra beverage options. However, the 5400 has 12 beverages, an extra shot function, and user profiles. The E8 does not have user profiles, but of course, you can program each beverage's strength and volume. Once you select a beverage on the E8 machine, there is an opportunity for you to make some last-moment or on-the-fly strength and volume changes which is great. Thanks for the questions.

Hi there, to change the grinder, you must do it while the machine is grinding. At that point you make the grinder adjustment. I hope that helps clarify. Simply, make an espresso, while the grinder is grinding, make your adjustment. Thanks for commenting!

Hi there, You can connect with a DeLonghi rep at 1888 335 6644 for technical questions. It is recommended to change the grinder setting while the grinder is running. In the future, you can complete a grinder adjustment change while the grinder is running. When you turn the grinder while the grinder is 'off' or not running, there's a chance a whole bean can get stuck within the grinder. Cheers!

Hi Lord, Thanks for the comments. Wonderful to hear the video was helpful and that you are enjoying the machine. With the bypass chute that can happen. The reason being, the preground espresso you are using is likely ground too fine... its made more so for stove top espresso makers and not automatic machines...but this is ok. It will only happen with the preground chute in this case. You can continue using the bypass chute. I hope that helps clarify, if you have any other questions please let me us know. Ciao for now.

Hi there, thanks for the comments and questions. The Z10 is a great machine and as you know offers hot and cold beverages. Things to ensure: 1 - The grinder setting is in the middle range, never on the finest or coarsest setting. 2 - Always use a nonoily coffee bean 3 - I personally enjoy maxing out the strength setting on all beverages being brewed for a fuller-bodied and bold taste. Of course, depending on your preference you can adjust the strength and volume I hope that is helpful, we also have a full demo video on the Z10. I have to admit, I've been using oily coffee beans in my machine for a few months (ever since I got it). It doesn't seem like it has hampered performance so far, but I will start using dry beans from now on. Does using oily beans do permanent damage to the grinder? I assume that oily beans can gum up the grinding mechanism. Is there any way to clean that out?
@Consiglioskitchenware
@Consiglioskitchenware Жыл бұрын
Hi Frank, Long-term use of oily beans may lead you to have to bring the unit into a service centre to degrease. Long term use can cause damage to the burrs possibly. We do not sell anything to degrease the grinders at home. Nonoily beans will not gum up the grinder over time, the beans will also be consistently ground and will pass through the grinder without issue. I hope that helps answer your questions.

Hey there, great question! Using 2% regular milk straight from the fridge will yield the best froth and texture. If you want to use other plant based milks, we suggest oatm soy and almond as they froth very well too. @Consiglioskitchenware
@Consiglioskitchenware 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Adrian, Thanks for your comments! Great questions. The taste of the espresso comes directly from the type of bean you are using. If you want a stronger tasting coffee, try using a dark roast. Always avoid oily beans. Try the Intenso beans we have available at Consiglio's Kitchenware Link - www.consiglioskitchenware.com/collections/fresh-roast-espresso/products/consiglios-super-intenso-bold-premium-fresh-roast-espresso-22-lbs Once you max out the strength setting on automatic machines, you cannot grind any more coffee. When the max setting is selecting, it siginals the grinder to grind the max amount of beans that will fit within the brewing unit. The 5400 does have a unique setting where there is an 'extra shot function'. Two shots in a cappuccino for extra, for those who love bold beverages! Link to 5400 - www.consiglioskitchenware.com/products/philips-saeco-5400-lattego-fully-automatic-espresso-machine-ep5447-94 I would strongly recommend using a darker roast, with the max strength setting selected :) Have a great day! Hello there, If you look at the round grinder knob. You will see 12 dots, level 1 is the finest with the dot being the smallest. The number 12 is the coarsest with the dot being the biggest. Against the wall of the grinder is a small notch. You will need to align grinder level 4 - 5 against that notch. Level 4 - 5 is the 4th and 5th dot counting from number 1 (the finest). I hope that helps clarify. Thanks!

Hi Chris Tian, Thanks for the feedback. That is another way of doing it. I have tested both methods and both work correctly. No matter what setting , the pucks are always mud or watery…
@Consiglioskitchenware
@Consiglioskitchenware 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mikes, Ensure the grinder is set to level 4-5, then make about 6 espressos after adjusting the grinder. The pucks will then hold together. If they continue to fall apart or are mud-like in texture, ensure you're not using oily espresso beans. Oily beans are very shiny in colour and if placed on a napkin or your palm will leave oil stains. That is too oily for best results and not recommended with the machines/grinders.
