I cannot overstate how much this has improved the quality of my setup, takeaway, swing, contact, and follow-through. Stretching the arms has helped me better visualize the shots, worry less about "hitting" the ball and focus more on squaring the face and getting rid of the chicken wing. Thank you!

I agree with 95% of what you say. However, you need to place the object 2 feet in front of your ball but about 4 inches inside the path, due to the natural rotation of your body left. Love your videos.
@paulwilsongolf4 жыл бұрын
I am assuming people would get that. You can't even swing it straight down the line without coming out of balance. So hopefully people understand that. Glad you like the tips. I appreciate it.

Will this help with wedges and drivers as well?
@paulwilsongolf Жыл бұрын
For sure. One swing all clubs. The swing changes automatically with the length of the club. Arms should always stretch out fully if you are not hitting with arms.
@jerryplaystennis4 жыл бұрын
5:38 Hi Paul, there were instructors that taught me to do the forward shaft lean. Can you please clarify because I thought that was the most ideal way to hit the ball?
@paulwilsongolf4 жыл бұрын
You get forward shaft lean due to having the right fundamentals. Impact is not the widest point of the arc. The club is descending at impact. Because it is not at the widest point there is an angle between head and shaft. You get the lean by firing the lower body first. This tilts the upper body back in the downswing. If so, you are getting closer to the ground. More importantly this gives you 2 axis which creates the oval of your swing. If your swing is now an oval the club would be descending as it hits the ball then it gets to the widest point which is 2 feet after the ball is hit. You need to watch these tips to understand it. I will be doing a tip on this in the near future: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6eoaX6FiM2SrNU and kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5LScoxprLarg9k and kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGjWk6KKhstsr9k you try leaning it on purpose you will never be consistent because you will always be maniuplating the face. A tick on a clock is 6 degrees. You don't have 6 degrees room for error.

This is a great tip, at first it wasn’t working then I realized my arms weren’t straight to begin with! First time at the driving range doing this I hit the ball solid almost every time. I’m a lefty and still have a slight fade about every other shot, maybe just need more practice with the drill?
@paulwilsongolf4 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it. Fade = open face. So loosen your wrists and let it release. Watch: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXetgH94iL2GnLM

Seems like your latest video is always the answer on my current swing-problems / questions. How do you manage your hip-rotation during pitching? Since I do your swing, my pitch-shots are random numbers. For me I'm lacking to control my hips. I use my hips or I don't use them. There is no speed-control with it. Do I need to practise it or do you have a quick tip?
@paulwilsongolf4 жыл бұрын
Turn your belt buckle to hit pitch shots. Hinge and turn . That's it. Can't give everything away.
@michaelc67204 жыл бұрын
What are the hips doing during this drill? Thanks for the video
@paulwilsongolf4 жыл бұрын
They are turning slightly through because they would be open at impact. of course they would be turning into the backswing too.
@jareroken91274 жыл бұрын
I’ve been watching a lot of Ben Hogan. Certainly a body swing. As far as I’ve seen his arms don’t swing out anywhere, he uses the rotation of his body to lead the arms and the arms extend beautifully through impact naturally.
@paulwilsongolf4 жыл бұрын
Definitely. A lot of those old timers were body not arms. You can just see how loose they were at set up.

I have been using an impact bag (50% swings) with the bag sitting at my chosen ball position. If the bag is two feet in front of my chosen ball position and my arms are fully extended the toe of the club should be touching the bag ? By the way I’ve been working hard on my swing and thanks to you I am improving.
@paulwilsongolf21 күн бұрын
Very good. So glad you found this drill. Too many people using the bag at impact which keeps them hitting. I of course don't want you hitting anything. Think of the swing as an arc. I would put the bag in front of that arc so it hits squarely. As you do these swings feel both arms stretch out fully. This is full extension. You arms are only so long so you should be able to repeat your swing if you allow them to stretch out. Keep up the good work.

This tip makes one avoid club face manipulation at time of impact. I was always very concerned of a square club face but because the swing happens so fast I cannot just do it. Frustrating! But this tip makes a lot of sense and truly doable. Thank you Paul!
@paulwilsongolf4 жыл бұрын
Glad you see it. Just one little twist of that face and you will hit it sideways. Got to just let it go. If so, you will hit it pretty dead straight most of the time.

Love it. I am currently in this journey with your “Body Swing”. Feeling effortless while more efficient is so satisfying. One question: when I do this “drill”, I feel like I am losing my posture and kind of extend with my hips forward when reaching this position. Is it expected, is it correct to start extending as the arms extend ?
@paulwilsongolf4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your support. Don't move foraward as you do this. Just realize this is where your arms are swinging too after it hits the ball. Your head would be behind the ball as you hit this spot. Watch this again: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGjWk6KKhstsr9k

I do this drill with a swing stick. The weight of the swing stick seems to ingrain the path and feel to body memory for me then when I swing the club it feels so much lighter and effortless to me. What’s your thoughts on weighted swing sticks?

Gonna try this. I hit 16 solid 7-irons on my launch monitor into a net today. Contact was great. Each shot was straight as an arrow. Problem is, the clubface was open about 2 degrees on every single shot, so they were all about 25 yards right. At least I'm consistent.
@paulwilsongolf Жыл бұрын
So you just turn more coming down which would create a more direct path or you can purposely roll your wrists to loose your wrists then try again. Do this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2mZaYSpidF6qpY kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmXZcoajhN-ehsk kzbin.info/www/bejne/hF7ReIBsrrNqb5I kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3mop2p9br9oY5I That will loosen your wrists then try again.
