Happened to me with SaS I just saw a lot of tutorials and went to the training area and practice a lot for an hour After playing for just 1 day l notice am doing everything right just by using my muscle memory Its not about time its about being comfy with the weapon If you set your goal to do this and not having fun with it in the 1st day (sadly) you will learn the weapon much faster and you will have fun the next days Also watching expert players doing these stuff helps a lot to stablise your muscle memory

fwiw i play a fair bit of normal CB, i only ever used saed spam though. I learnt savage axe playstyle in particular in that time to get this run

Use it on easy monsters. Its worth it learn CB. I would recomend learing in 6 stages. S&H mode. Shield charging mode. Sword charge mode. Saed spam mode. Savage axe mode then finally guard points. Each level needs to know the previous so get familiar with each stage before proceeding to next.

Honestly once you learn how to charge the shield or charge the sword and how to manually switch from sword to ax its pretty easy to learn the rest just by hunting things. Mastering it's a whole nother monster though lol

phials are also drained if you just stay idle without attacking with savage axe, so element discharges/attacks aren't the only things draining your phials.

@@jamirowhy Actually, it all stacks. Guard 5 + red shield + GP = 9 hidden points of guard. On some matchups like Brute, Ruiner and Alatreon all of them are required to successfully GP.

Used your video as a guide for the fight. (With Beotodus CB, since KT is keeping her CBs to herself so far) After about 15-20 frustrating losses last weekend, then farming KT during the week for relaxation, I finally tried it again today. Managed to get the kill during my second attempt. (I think adding a Fortify Decoration actually made the difference, barely keeping me alive after my first death in this run.) Now I'm done with the Special Assignment and can do the event quests, where you actually start from the camp, rather than getting dropped right in the arena.

12 mins is a respectable time and don't feel too bad if someone has a better time because there will be definitely some CB speedrunner out there that does it in less than 8 mins. As long as you kill Alatreon, whether it takes 12 mins or 25 mins, it still is a great feeling. Some people out there are still whining about him instead of learning the fight and gathering tips on how to beat him.

Impact phials does not count as elemental damage, the main gimmick of the his fight is to reach certain elemental damage threshold so no, frosting it's not good for this play style as he says beatodus CB is the other option. I'm guessing that the replacement for Safi armor is Namielle 4 pieces (much safer option but less DPS)

Only problem I have with this video is it doesn't help people that are stuck on the troll special assignment quest that drops you in front of Alatreon with no prep time which is pretty important for builds like savage axe that rely on protective polish. The quest is a lot easier when you actually have time to buff up and whatnot before his various timers and attacks start up.

The first time I beat Alatreon I used a fire elemented safi longsword, then a safi switch axe, and finally a safi charge blade all built for element. Of these weapons, savage axe charge blade was the easiest! What I find to help with him running around alot is to spam the slinger burst with the rocks or dragon, as long as there is enough ammo to use repeatedly. Savage axe has an overhead advance move after the burst that does not uppercut teammates and allows you to aim the move using the left analog stick

@@ConsOA In truth I sometimes spam it with the circle or phial attack (sorry I do not know the xbox button for O) and then slinger burst repeatedly until I need to recharge axe mode. By doing this, one can use the move effective 2 360 degree spin axe attack and unleash phial almost in the same way as a SAED only it's savage axe. It's a really high damaging playstyle and makes guard pointing (something I cannot do consistently) a top tier end level skill for players to have.

The best way to start learning Guard Point is to use the Morph into Axe mode attack (the keyboard controls are LMB and V not sure what the XBox cotnrols are maybe Y and) @@trevinsingh9390. Out of curiosity, how well might this work with a non-Safi set? Just barely gotten to the point where I'm trying to clear this (and the first Fatalis encounter), and I'm having some serious trouble. I've been trying to use a Frostcraft GS set, but I'm still getting used to both the set and the fight, and I'm doing nowhere near enough damage to hit the elemental DPS checks. In one of the special investigations, I was lucky enough to get a really great response to an SOS request, and was carried through, but I've had no such luck with the other one. Either way, I would like to get to the point where I can do it alone.... but because of the health drain, I'm not confident that I could get a Safi set to work in my favour, even if Safi-Jiva actually WAS available right now (which it is not, so I can't even grind out the set, OR get a hold of the weapons).

Just an idea, with 2 levels of blight res (comes naturally on safi armor) your blights only last a few seconds (and rolling gets rid of them faster) so you don't even need nulberries to get the effect of coalescence. Fire Alatreon can burn you which is one of the most harmless blights, and just one level of Coalescence can get you a lot of extra damage in exchange. If you can fit it, I think a Coalescence based set could be a lot stronger with very little risk.

Not worth it. 10 seconds of dragon blight is a ton of elemental dps lost, and 10 seconds thunder blight can stun and kill you. If you're good enough to avoid all the blights except fire, then you might as well run resentment. I've tried it with level 3 coal and it's just not that good unfortunately (for speedrunning)

It resets after every judgement so you only need to realistically need to elem topple him once to survive EJ. The extra topples are useful though since they provide free openings for dps.

The elemental threshold would be so set so high that you cannot get a 3rd or 4th elem topple after the first judgement and 2 topples if that were the case and it didn't reset.

i cant watch the video right now so im not sure, but most likely my health augment is healing me enough per hit to counter the damaging effect. You can augment your weapon with a few effects once you reach the guiding lands, one of them is an effect that heals you with every hit. The heal scales with how strong the attack is (e.g. a dual blade hit will heal a little, a great sword fully charged slash would heal a lot)

@@aamilham2411 Small addendum: The health augment heals a percentage of the damage you deal. Rank 1 heals 7,5%, rank 2 heals 9%, then 11%, then 14%. However, weapon rarity limits how many augment slots you can get, with Rarity 10 weapons being able to technically reach Health Augment rank 4, Rarity 11 weapons can reach rank 3, Rarity 12 weapons can reach rank 2. For the overwhelming majority of builds, rank 1 is more than sufficient.

Agitator is straight up better than resentment because it can stay active longer especially if you using the health Regen augment, but resentment will always be active if you use the Safi set bonus since it bleeds you before the attack could possibly land even with the health Regen augment

Agitator is just more consistent overall since you want to get Alatreon mad ASAP anyways for the extra 20% dmg modifier he takes. If you watch any speedruns, they will always try to get Alatreon mad in some way at the start of the hunt. This can be done by wall banging him or just triple flinching his head. The latter is mostly done by Time Attack speedrunners since they're not allowed to wall bang monsters.

you're ALWAYS (at least 95% of the hunt) gonna have alatreon enraged for the 20% modifier (and if you aren't, well, start doing that lol with claw swipes and flinch shots), so agi 5 is a straight 20 raw and 10 affinity. Resentment is 25 raw, but only if you're not running health augment (or if you are, it's just got way less uptime). Personally I prefer agi first, and if you get really good at the hunt, drop health aug and throw resentment on afterwards

@@orangeRhymingDictionary Honestly, it's just about learning his openings and how best to approach and exploit them. He has huge openings which give you plenty of opportunities for damage, like any other monster. They're just riskier than you're probably used to from most previous monsters. It's something I never really learned until fighting Fatalis and AT Velk. I'm not very good at the game, so I just play super safe and super slow. That got me through every other fight just fine. But, the two black dragons and Super Velkhana ask a little bit more of you. I will say that running full blight resist or getting your dragon resist to 20+ helps a lot so you don't lose elemental damage uptime. And bring smoke bombs for when he's flying and enraged. They're the fastest way to get him down. Otherwise, don't get discouraged. Success is in the future. Just might see a few failures beforehand.

For some reason I can never topple him with the upgraded alatreon ls (or any dragon element weapon). Is dragon that much weaker against him than fire/ice? I have no issue toppling him with ice or fire.

Yes. Its 2% hitzone on ice/fire and 9% on dragon, something like that. It is stupidly weak. For comparison ice/fire gets 22% and 10% And thoses numbers are on the arms, the part that takes the most elemental damage, it gets worse

If you're gonna use dragon element it would be better to use the Dragon Dual Blades. I think they're called the Enduring Surrender. Those are the best weapons to use if you're going for Dragon Element damage.

I definitely wouldn't prioritise it when building your set tho, it's possible I just got it because some armour pieces I needed happened to have it, though i can't watch the video atm to check

@@ConsOA Managed to kill it Solo on Dawn Of The Death Star finally (after I got lucky in a really good group getting past BBT finally with Insect Glaive. Have also made all the the armour pieces I want now and the weapons I tend to use The Ala Layered Weapons are BEAUTIFUL). Fainted once. I missed a horn break so when I fainted I changed to Kjarr Ice CB from Kjarr Fire CB with the Safi set. Evade Extender, Evade Window and Rocksteady really are a lifesaver for this weapon as well as being able to Guard. The amount of topples you can get with CB realy help you do the required damage as well as the occasional stun from Axe Slash. Crystallburst came in CLUTCH for me though stopping some of his moves (the one where he flies through the air and does a similar move to when he switches to Dragon mode) which would have carted me.

Thanks for the vid, but honestly that CB is honestly almost unobtainable without ENORMOUS time investments or ridiculously good RNG. I've easily melded 250+ Kjarr weapons (the option, at the melder) and gotten ZERO Kjarr ice CB's. I was playing today with a guy that said he's spent over 200,000 points at the melder too and still doesn't have one. That weapon is insanely busted. The next best I think is the Beotodus deep schnegel or something like that. I'd be curious to see how that CB performs for you?

everyone needs to find their favourite personal balance! For me, health boost 3 and health augment (and maybe blight res depending on the weapon) are enough utility, but i know others will prefer more/less, which is good. If you triple cart, you just got 0 damage over 20 minutes, much bigger loss of dps than running a few extra points of attack will gain ^_^

The best use of time when your shield’s about to run out is to charge your phials to red, use up all of your remaining phials (SAED or EDs in Savage Axe), and then charging your shield.

Like I've watched build videos used same armor and what not for True crit element and capacity boost and still the most I get outa a SAED is like 120ish against something weak to the element or like 20 from the savage axe ticks.

a few offensive skills really go a long way for this. That, plus the rage modifier for alatreon (20%) + agitator, so make sure its enraged, and hitzones count for these hits unlike impact phials, so hit the arms/head. I use safi ice CB and can break both horns like 75% of the time but i have never hit the elemental damage check in solo so i can survive the nova so i have never won. Any tips? I see people say use kjarr ice CB but i do not have it and my elder melder has no way to get KT master rank weapons.

If you want kulve access, you need to beat her MR event quest at least once, tho safi CB is more than good enough make sure you're using ice CB on fire alatreon (if alatreon is starting in ice mode, take fire instead), and just use savage axe if you aren't already. That alone should make the element threshold easy enough, see above video. If you dont like savage axe, or if you're using it but it's not enough, it's just a case of getting comfortable enough with more of alatreons openings so you can play more aggressively, which should come with practise (and again, see the sorts of openings i punish in the above video)

In co-op just spam the forward step axe swing fallowed by the roundabout vial swing so you don’t launch your teammates. Also if you charge the sword I think it does elemental damage but I have never confirmed this I just usually charge my sword out of habit.

Cons OA yeah not intending to spread misinformation but I always thought but never confirmed if charging you sword did elemental damage just assumed cause the move was called Condensed Element Slash.

⁠​⁠​⁠​⁠@@ConsOA charging your sword does give you elemental attacks and gives your sword Mind’s Eye when using Sword Mode. It’s basically like Savage Axe but with your sword. Granted it only gives you element attacks if your chargeblade has an element. On raw chargeblade the charged sword gives you phial damage without using up phials.

Love your content I tried the kinesect method and I couldn't figure it out so I went back to heavy bow gun and I moved just to slowly so I tried light bow gun and after a while I finally got it solo but that wasn't until after I watched a different video it talks about the internal elemental modifier that is unique to this monster I'm talking about the 0.2 X modifier for Bow guns. So how I ended up finishing the special event was toppling him four times and then switching to heavy Bogan stickies to get the rest of his hit points down

After seeing how you flinched Alatreon, I went in only to be met with a prick of a black dragon instead. I blink once and I’m dead. Couldn’t even get a single opening to attack. Even moved when I went to flinch shot. All I’m after are the wings and tail yet can’t even get remotely close without being pinned instantly. Lost count to how many times I have not been able to get one flinch.

flinch shotting this thing is definitely a real pain! otherwise, it largely comes down to recognising what moves alatreon is about to use and positioning accordingly. Make sure you're using savage axe on an elemental build if you want the elemental topple, but savage axe moves are quite committal so you have to be quite intentional about where you stand and when you attack

correct me if i am wrong (probably am) but i thought since the moment you swing you take the damage from safi set, resentment activates, +25 attack on that hit, damage is now dealt so you heal for percent of that hit resentment deactivates cause you are full health. At least that was how i thought it worked since hit or miss you take the safi "bleed" so resentment would kick in before you healed from health augment meaning they should still work fine together.

Based from experience, resentment will only kick in if you have red health from the beginning of the attack. So if you used a draw attack from full hp then that would do no extra resentment dmg. Health augment would tend to heal all red hp even before resentment kicks in depending on the weapon. If the weapon does a lot of motion values then resentment is kinda useless most of the time since health augment is healing you for so much. For a low motion value weapon however the life steal health augment gives might not be enough to fully heal red hp so it can be viable.

in my experience, it doesnt work like this except for some bowgun shots, where there's enough delay between the shot and the damage, to let resentment kick in before the hit lands. It takes a little bit of time. tho that might just be anecdotal, idk

@@RhynnMedia if you've seen my fc gs thing, there's a few nice openings for the head. if you're really struggling to break the horns only, then maybe during dragon, just sheathe and act as if you're playing GS, wait for an opening, and unsheathe morph attack. After like 3 of those they should break

Cons OA thanks! I wasn’t clear. I don’t mean charging the sword. I meant the move where you hold down b and get two sword hits that charge a lot of files. Then y+b twice and you can charge the shield or go savage axe. I just can’t ever seem to pull it off because I’m a spaz. I did beat him once, but I carted a bunch. You ain’t kidding though about the quick elemental knock downs.

Kinda annoying the upswing has a very generous hitbox that sends allies flying so it's not that useful in multiplayer. You can delay it for a downward strike but it takes longer. Wish attacks didn't launch allies.

it can be dropped by doing the high rank kulve taroth siege (at the end you get a bunch of rarity 6-8 random weapons) and if you do the MR kulve taroth you can upgrade those weapons by 4 rarity at the forge

Yeah Im using insect glave with 900+ dragon and im hitting him the whole time (I got hit 2 times in the entire fight) im using dps buffs i have all crit stats and focusing on the parts of him which are weak to dragon and I still died 3 times to his nova

Dragon basically sucks on him. Use either ice or fire and break the horns during dragon phase to prevent him from changing to the opposite element after his nova.

Dragon is bad because you’re doing 10% damage in ice/fire mod and only 70% damage in dragon mode, making it really difficult to topple him in general. You’re better of using a ice/fire element and breaking it’s horns to prevent Alatreon from switching to the other element. If you’re not confident in breaking it’s horns, then water/thunder should be your other option since these elements also have better values than dragon. Though I’d recommend the horn breaking strat in terms of efficiency.

Blight res 2 and coalescence is the obvious chad choice as the blights lasts for like one of Alatreon's attacks and them Coal procs right after. Pretty consistent uptime, specially on ice quest.

You can do it! Alatreon has a lot of punishes if you can learn to utilize them. And don't be pressured at all to beat him within a certain amount of time. You're not speedrunning and you just want to beat the monster so even 1 elem topple should be fine to live through Judgement.
