How to Easily Solo Alatreon With ONLY Kinsect - Defensive set, Guaranteed Win | MHW Iceborne

You probably saw it coming, but its another kinsect build/tutorial lol. This is like the third time haha, but people are struggling and I'm here to liberate them ;)
Obviously this is a slow method, but that's what happens with such a foolproof and easy way to end the fight. Also I've seen people happy with 20 minute kill times, so for all that safety and guarenteed-ness, a 50% time increase isn't a bad trade off
If you're going to attempt this, you can get the time down quite a bit by using flinchshots to dunk alatreon from the air, and flash pods similarly. Maybe bring poison smoke bombs, though poison seems weak so I'm not sure it's worth it. Bring bombs, and a stronger blunt-boost glaive (or any stronger glaive tbh) so your tenderise hits do more
And if you bring an actual glaive and do proper IG fighting where appropriate, and then this otherwise, you'll shoot the time down, but I'm doing pure kinsect only to prove it's not only doable, but easy. And if you keep following that line, you end up at just a regular IG playstyle, but if you could do that you probably wouldn't be watching this, so idk lol

I have a spreadsheet which collects all sorts of data on Monster Hunter World Iceborne that people ask about a lot - things like the materials needed to upgrade the best charms (e.g. handicraft, expert etc), a list of all the guiding land monster drops and gathering nodes (plus it's searchable), what materials you need for every possible augment (attack, affinity, defence, health, slot, element/status) in the game, etc:

It also includes things like a list of ALL the 4 slot decorations (including even the rare 12 ones which ONLY drop from sealed feystones) so you know the best deco's to aim for when farming. It even has detailed images for the guiding land gathering nodes (the one's that drop materials like the guiding dragonbones/crystals etc) which you need for custom weapon upgrades/augments!
My list of guiding land drops can be sorted either by drop type (so it finds the monster to fight for a particular part) or you can use it to just find the parts belonging to any monster (no more pulling your hair out over how to get those Enchanting Finehide/Trancehide for your health augments!). This goes up to and includes the tempered elders (speaking of which, check out my 5 slot tempered investigation farming macro if you haven't already!)
It also has a Safi'Jiiva relic checklist to easily monitor which awakened weapons you're missing from the new siege!

Well actually if use thunder element kinsect you can drain out the Alatreon energy no matter it is in ice active, dragon active or fire actice. Then, you can survive the supernova. FYI, bring health booster drain out the Alatreon energy with thunder kinsect, when Alatreon use the ultimate place your health booster and use your kinsect go attack Alatreon, lifesteal and the regen from health booster can keep you safe.

Go look up kinsect only runs in 4u. Fatalis was one of the first monsters people tried it on thanks to its ridiculously high misreported 80 dragon hz on its head and the discovery that kinsects did 10x their display element instead of 1/10 like regular weapons. I've soloed most of the g rank quests with kinsect in that game and it also makes great "support" because kinsect is the best ko weapon in 4u, and can easily score 3 or 4 kos on a 5 minute hunt.

I FINALLY managed to beat this monster. Honestly I am ecstatic. It took me two attempts to do it. The first attempt I carted 4 times and I was at the 47 minute marker. The second attempt I decided to change to dragon element and actually managed to get through the whole fight while only carting once. I fainted to the third escaton judgement (which I swear is a lot harder to contain than the others). And then after he did about 6 escaton judgements, I beat him at the 41 minute mark. Thank you so much for this guide man. This was honestly keeping me up at night as I really wanted to not only beat him, but SOLO him. And I finally managed to do it after wasting so much of my time trying. For those of you that are still struggling with this fight, repeatedly going for the head is key because that will make sure he dies sooner. Don't stop going for his head even when both the horns break. And also always charge up your insect glaive after he does escaton judgement. Honestly the fact that this guide is out and he's STILL a pain in the ass shows how honestly unfair this fight is. I can understand how there are objectively well designed things about him, but at the same time I think the fact that it limits you to only certain play styles is objectively bad design. Anyway, great video mate!

Tbh I had to try a lot of times but this was the way I finally managed to solo him. I think you can only call this "incredibly easy" as a veteran but it's true, once you get his movement pattern memorised, it's mostly about staying focused for that long. Took me 36 minutes and one more death than the run you did (got two transformations to ice) but I'm just glad I got this done. Thanks!

A small heads up. If you aren't very accurate in hitting the head, you might run out of slinger ammo to boost your kinsect. (happened to me and Alatreon was just at 10% health) Having slinger capacity helps a lot.

Were you using the tenderise attack much? Like accidently wasting ammo? Because combined with the dragon pods ala drops it seemed like it would be enough, but honestly i never play kinsect without slinger up so im probably wrong

I'm using full MR KT set for the free meal spam, trading divine blessing level 5 for divine blessing 3 and speed eating 3. Using Laguna Glaive and Foliacath with opposing element to Alatreon, it does about 50ish damage per peck to the head and 60 damage per peck to the front arms. Targeting the front arms is a lot easier than the head. The only time I switch to head is when it's in Dragon Active. Also with every topple I use IG combos on it's head. Try to prioritize pecking the front legs and see how you fare and only ever tenderize it when you need more slinger ammo. Also, I don't even bother trying to flinch shot it as I tend to miss a lot and just waste the limited slinger ammo we have access to. (When it's in Dragon Active, Foliacath Ice/Fire does about 30ish damage per peck to the head and 39 damage per peck to the front leg.)

Plunderblade has a cap on how many times it can plunder. The blade itself is limited to 4, and the shinies it can drop are on the same counter as the shinies Alatreon drops on bang or elemental topple. You'll usually run out of new shinies after like 10 or so minutes, maybe 15.

What I've been doing is using shield spire because the dummy straight can distract monster for minutes and let you get free damage granted you still have to be careful because he can change aggro but it lets me get a guaranteed element flinch

This is a great strat, I came pretty close to making this work on my first try. Never used IG before, and I think once I learn a thing or two about how to get better damage out of the kinsect it will work. I used your technique with slight modification. I used Runier Negi IG with Foliacath III forz with element Ice/Fire. I used the kinsect to meet the first dps check, then used IG to break horns. No problem, though looking back I might have been overestimating how easy this is. You do need to be able to actually hit the thing with the kinsect semi consistently, but otherwise it's pretty hard to die until you run out of horn breaks and the element starts changing, at which point every second nova will take you out. Should be enough time if you're moderately okay at aiming the kinsect. Good luck! (Also i think the GS matchup is really good against this guy, so try soloing that and watching my coverage of that if you haven't already and need some help)

If you have the upgraded Behemoth glaive, you can actually get through ice active if you have an ice bug or fire active if you have a fire bug. Since the glaive does dragon damage, you can make use of it in the active mode where your kinsect is useless. This does require knowledge on how to use an IG but I've beaten Alatreon with no carts using this method. I save all my mounts for the phase where my kinsect is useless so when it goes back into dragon active I can spam it with my kinsect to deal enough element damage.

Thanks for the tips. You essentially run with two elemental damage types. I brought a KJAR ice insect glaive to and use the fire kinsect when he is in ice mode. The only downside is the lower kinsect damage due having no blunt boost on this glaive. However you can compensate for wailing medieval style during his fire phase.

I just learned something in my fight. I do have my palico around and it got a sleep. If you drop all your poison smoke bombs, you can get a poison. Which means the same is true for fatalis as they both have an original threshold of 300.

Late to the party, but extremely eye opening. Its irritating that the game never directs you to tempered as part of progression. I've been struggling at Safi, and broken at Alatreon, and the game never said "you should be doing tempered." The handler has just been yelling at me to do safi, which I skirt by, and now she continuously tells me to do Alatreon. They are made available WAY to early, which confuses so many players. This is where all the "late game" complaints are from. So thanks for getting me on the correct progression path.

Damn... I lasted 43 minutes with Alatreon with this strategy but I failed... I think my accuracy might be the issue. I’ve used the insect Gaige before but I never exclusively used the kinsect only. Try running the event quest with randoms instead of the special assignment now you have killed it. I cleared it 4 or 5 times with randoms today running a wide range/free meal secret/speed eating build. The event quest players were easily doing enough damage to stop the nova. All I did was soften up the back legs, help them break the horns when he fell down and heal/buff.

What about making the kinsect Dragon? The damage in dragon active should be high enough to get the topple, but you won't be disadvantaged by phase changes.

Wouldn't spamming the aerial attack (making the kinsect attack from air to ground, piercing the who monster) be more effective? When I do it with the 20 element 19 attack 7 speed (can't remember the name but max damage + slowest possible for more ticks) it deals a crazy amount of damage through Alatreon, unless he runs around, but I guess it's not as safe as running around spamming the kinsect

@@blackfish7736 did you remember to boost the kinsect with enemy ammo? That makes it deal real damage Also the strat is only using the kinsect in the dragon phase if you use Dragon kinsect, in the others its better to dps him with melee on the arms, I prefer Dragon element since that makes his novas a complete joke, if you play properly you will never die to Eschaton. Element boost is the bonus i recommend for even easier element checks

i got to try IG for the first time .. just to beat this absurd damage check boss . such a stupid mechanic . anyway IG is pretty awesomely fun >.> edit : holy crap it worked >.> u have no idea how good this is .. as a first time IG user .. i was finally able to solo that stupid monster its sooo good i swear i made so many builds for this stupid fight : SnS , hammer , LS , LBG . lance half of these im not good at even .. and wasted so much mats making these builds .. thx so much for sharing this awesome cheese build

I believe Alatreon is a nice lesson to the casual players who typically look for "one weapon for all" weapons. Now y'all can't rely on that, now you need to actually look at the weaknesses of a monster and plan for that. All I had to do was add in an element charm (fire or ice) and a high element weapon (LS Main) and his nova stopped being a problem.

Before Alatreon, most of the time the Raging Bracky IG was my "one weapon for all" ;-P Decent raw, native purple, no need of handicraft and has blast as an added bonus. That's the best combination for casual hunting.

As a Hunting Horn main through the series... I have never really settled on "One Weapon for all" as each horn had different songs to answer different fights. I didn't feel slighted when I was told I had to use an elemental weapon. I just laughed and busted out the Shrieking Legiana horn. Then later... the Safi Frosthorn with Elemental Song Up.... and now the fight is an utter joke as I smack in in the face with 1240 elemental damage or (124 damage before modifiers). True Crit element on that? And the bard becomes the hero of this tale.

I have something that I call my Four Horsemen. They're the four weapons that I mainly use for hunting and they all serve a unique purpose. Dual Blades for smaller and quicker monsters like the kulu yaku. Long sword for crowd control and slaying minor monsters in groups. Insect Glaive for monsters that like to stay in the air. And my charge blade for the more tankier and ground monsters. Helps to block and attack with swift or heavy movements.

same build also ? personally i switched to another IG with element boost for the kinsect . that did the trick im also picking up IG for first time just for this .. and it helped me to change some hotkeys so its easier ( shift to aim for example ) and u have to just spam hit him as much as u can . when ur kinsect is almost out of stamina call it back then send it out like 3 times in a row . it will get back to full stamina in no time . also try ur best to always aim for the head if head is moving too much go for forelegs

I tried this before watching your video and where I was going wrong is I tried to cart so I could go back and switch to the elemental kinsect in order to match alatreon. With your strat I'll just keep doing raw damage with no elemental damage, cart from the Nova and when I go back ill have the element I need to keep doing damage! Thx for the tip!

i had a 5 minute section that i cut out where i talked about this possibility to change kinsects (in fact, the bit where i say to NOT change kinsects is a left over from that pretty much lol), but basically it boils down to this: start of both strats: de-nova de-horn survive nova, same ele de-nova de-horn survive nova, same ele de-nova cant de-horn survive nova, wrong ele now see next strats: stick with one kinsect strat: can't de-nova can't de-horn CART, right ele now de-nova can't de-horn survive nova, wrong ele now can't de-nova can't de-horn CART, right ele now (2nd cart) OR change kinsect strat: take a cart on purpose to change kinsect (right ele now) de-nova can't de-horn survive nova, wrong ele now either take a cart again to swap, or fail to de-nova and de-horn, then cart naturally In the latter method, both ways you end up just straight losing phases to do damage on. you get objectively less time to kill ala before carting, tho you do front load the dps a bit more. Every purposeful cart you take loses you time before failing to the final nova hope this makes sense!

I'm so confused the only thing I'm missing are the health arguments but I'm still only hitting the head 96% of the time and its still not working??? (Starting to really think im just meant to never beat it, at this point his stuff doesn't matter to me, I just want to beat it.) What about a dragon kinsect + elemental boost? Is it possible that way to reduce the damage of the novas even after you broke both horns? Since Alatreon takes elemental damage from dragon in all 3 modes, even if it is reduced to 1*(fire and ice) and 2*(dragon)

his hitzones in element for dragon are like 2% in ice and fire and 9% in dragon mode (something along those lines) It really doesn't work. With dragon dualblades I have a lot of trouble weaking his nova

This is what I do. While slower, I can meet the element dps check before every nova, even after both horns are gone. So then it just becomes a game of patience....hunts take 40+ minutes doing it this way.

Slinger ammo + kinsect combo is new to me. Didn’t knew that they buffed kinsect damage by a lot. Are there any other weapons that got boosted by different type of slinger ammos? I know that different ammos has different damage, but to affect weapon? It’s super new to me even though I’ve reached mr 100+

Took me 2 days but i finally solo alatreon with cb. He definitely leaves a lot of opening after each move. You almost have to have a perfect run to beat him.

Wait, I want to know something. Can Alatreon be poisoned? I completely forgot that I have poison smoke bombs in my loadout. I didn't use them during my practice runs because of the whole "use elements moron" mentality with Alatreon. If you CAN poison Alatreon then you can probably shave off a few minutes if you build for increased poison duration. I think there's an armor set bonus specifically for it?
