They should redo the sonic 06 story and make that a film, considering Sega writes the game off as non-canon(except for that one level and silver the hedgehog). But kudos to this guy for providing what he thinks would be a good plot. Not many reviewers do that, they just bash and smash with nothing to input. They never say" instead of this, how about this...?"

Sean Brooks Yeah I actually agree. It's not that the concept was bad for 06's story, it was just executed poorly and could have been great if given much better writers. I also kinda want this film to be pg-13 as well, so it doesn't just pander to kids and can explore more serious themes.

If I were to make a Sonic fan film, I would not appeal to the fans. I would write the story I want to see. Just a straightforward Sonic story set in his original world, and NOT the human world.

this plot seems similar to samurai jack a character who had to keep his polite, honorable character in seasons 1-4 and be the classic good guy but in season 5 he tires of being the hero and really just wants it all to end

You know what? As a detractor of the first part? They done ungoofed. I still think part one is more of a prologue rather than an equal part, but this video is better at showing why "this" production is bad, and what else could be done with the movie. They did start from a stupid assumption: why should they please the fans? Sure they can have fanservice, but this movie should aim to general-young audience. Wreck it Ralph was about Ralph, not the cameos of other characters. Also a suggestion: put Shadow here as a non-example. If Sonic needs to get over his 90's attitude, let Shadow not getting over his 2000 attitude. Like a warning sign to Sonic...

If I would make a movie of sonic I would use, first ur idea, a verry simple but fun film, ot use the sotrys of sonic adventure1 or 2, sonic o6 plot (without that kiss tought it could be amy ) and if u dont care abaut the fanbase sonic unleashed, in my opnion that are the best idea but like u saied the fanbase will hate it dont matter what is it

Can't say I I entirely agree. Your perspective is almost exactly Ratchet and Clank, also a recent game adaptation. Let's take a look at it and Warcraft. I have no idea about R&C, but it was properly animated, had a plain plot, yet a lot of decent humor and writing along with it. To an estranged viewer, this would not look half bad. Then again, as long as it's animated for the most part. Warcraft, on the other hand, is a real example of titanic franchise fucked up, just like Sonic can be. To a fan, Warcraft is idiotic and outright blasphemous. To a normal viewer, it is just nonsense with a actor level of the TV screen that it took from. It was also live action, despite the franchise always being animated. It didn't have the fractured global lore, yet it managed to get ONE book wrong. And that was from a large studio and a director, who.... well, at least shot a couple small fine movies. But if Blizzard can fail, what hope is there for Sonic? None. It won't be as easy as Ratchet, IG don't be animated and simple. It has less live action compatibility than Warcraft. Still, the last thing I want to see is this personal growth scenario. It is LITERALLY EVERYWHERE: practically every animation, superhero movie, transformers, you name it. There are maybe a couple people in the world that can write the screen play of this basic nature, and I doubt Jonathan Nolan would bother. What you suggested basically means a more or less the same Ratchet and Clank. Which means an average movie, as opposed to the prediction of a disaster. Personally, while I dont know Sonic lore, much less expanded universe, I'd think using the legal core lore and developing it in the ways not seen before - is the right way to go. See, as you'he said, if people won't see their favorite EU characters, they need a substitute.... and if Sonic is already so fractured... why not just add another fracture? But, again, very importantly - based on the core lore. Warcraft has tried to twist the most sacred parts of the lore for NO reason. And, I think, by now people have seen Sonic fight Robotnik..... HUNDREDS of times. What many movies try and universally fail at - is to make a one-off movie. It works as a concept pilot, like Hangover or Deadpool. With little plot focused in one action setting - it looks good and opens the way for sequels. Large franchises, like Warcraft or Sonic..... CAN'T be one-off. They are just too big, there are whole series about them. The movie has to be planned as a multi-picture project. Nolan'so Dark Knight didn't fight Alghoul, Joker and Bane in the same movie. Instead, the character got developed over multiple stages. The same applies for Sonic - just going ahead and fighting Robotnik to the end would make it as imbecillic as Wonder Woman, killing her primary lore antagonist permanently in the ONLY movie.... Plus, even these serial movies.... they tend to be grand. Harry Potter, Matrix, Pirates, LOTR, Marvel movies. Yes, it is much more difficult to pull off a 120+ min picture, but the stakes demand it. If they make a basic and very eye-rolling plot, put it into 90min timeframe and not open the way to sequels.... THAT will be the death of this movie. Not whatever discrepancies it has with the fan base. Because even every other viewer will see yet another stupid Assassin's Creed, WW, Man of Steel, Warcraft etc...
