Gameplay has a slight edge on Genesis. Apparently there's a jump at the beginning of Hakuna Matata level which is pretty frustrating to pull off on the SNES but on Genesis, they added an animal with a swingable tail to make it more fair. That coupled with being able to see more of the screen makes the Genesis version a less frustrating experience.

"In a perfect world, we'd get a game with Sega graphics and Super Nintendo sound." The DOS version is the one you're looking for then. It has that.
SEGA WINS. The cropped screen in Snes affects the gameplay. Snes wins for the musics? The music on the Canion stage sounds like a symphony of farts in snes; and the sound of the roar in the sega is very better!
@JonBR-6229 ай бұрын
There are a lot of farts in the Genesis version's sound effects: - In the first level: when Simba jumps on hedgehogs, lizards and beetles; - In the level "The Elephant Graveyard": when the passage opens, after facing two hyenas at the beginning and end of the level, when elephant bones fall and when Simba rolls and opens a passage; - In the level "Simba's Exile": when the rocks fall. - In the "Hakuna Matata" level: when Simba jumps on frogs and spiders; - On the last level when the lightning strikes.

One cool thing about the SNES version that was cool, graphically, was the lighting affect that comes with the lightning and stuff on some levels. On SEGA the lightning strikes the ground and creates a fire. On SNES it does the same thing, but when it strikes the ground, the rocks nearby light up blue like the lightning - that was cool. I preferred most of the music in SEGA. SNES has closer quality and vocals, and that edges it up on some tracks (like the title theme for sure) - but most of them sound more...deep and just better imo.

There are a bunch of bugs in the SNES adult Simba levels that can make them a pain too (in particular the level where you keep falling into the lava - there are invisible walls). I feel like that plus the cropped screen preventing you from even seeing where to jump on giraffe heads in the second level (which is the hardest level by far in the SNES version) really does give Sega a bigger edge. LMAO @ The date scene with Wendy and Sam... Dan: "They said they're going to freshen up, you know what that means?" Greg: "Pooping?" Dan: "What? No! Well...Maybe?" That entire scene leading up to the comparison was non-stop awesomeness! 4:45 "Oh...Sega...And how did you write that? Is that what I think it is?" "Yes! I wrote it with Almond Joy!" - ROFL!!! Wtf? 13:24 "AHHHH!!! Almond Joy!" "Why is there corn in it?" "There's a good reason for that! It's pooooooop!" - Hahahaha!! I always wanted to rent this game back in the day, but I never did. I did end up renting Aladdin, though. I'm going to have to get this game and go through it at some point. Also, this has to be one of my favorite episodes so far! All of your episodes are hilarious, but this one is one of the funniest. Keep up the good work, homies!

You guys should tally up the total console wins at the end of each episode discreetly somewhere on the screen. and that's great you guys met bill burr. bill burr and Nathan barnatt are my two favorite comedians.

+David Steck Yeah, meeting Bill Burr was one of the coolest things ever. After taking a pic with him we went to a nearby bar and he walked in 5 min later. I actually got to have a regular conversation with him.

If ypu guys get Spiderman - X-men: Arcade's Revenge for SNES & SEGA Genesis, you guys should make an episode about it. Trust me, this future episode is going to be good.

I'd say the Genesis wins on sound also. The title screen on the SNES is obviously better but in all of the other songs, the SNES sounds flat whereas the Genesis' sound has a lot more meat to it.

Honestly, I loved the Genesis soundtrack of Lion King considering it's not the usual scratchy Genesis sound chip work but more akin to the Japanese games. The title theme does sound better on the SNES but I thought the rest they were pretty equal. Great video guys, Nothing like a BladeBlur and Console Wars day.

+BladeBlurX Yeah. Black Friday? More like awesome KZbin Videos Day!
@Maru969 жыл бұрын
+BladeBlurX That's because the composer was british, not american. European genesis composers were pretty good, the composer for this game is Matt Furniss, he composed tons of great stuff for the console.
@BladeBlur9 жыл бұрын
Marcel Weber Well, not all American composers were bad. TOMMY TALLARICO.
@Maru969 жыл бұрын
***** Yeah, Tommy Tallarico, John Baker and Howard Drossin are the exceptions. But the rest rank from OK to awful.
