It's kind of interesting how people really like World of Illusion. When it first came out, it was a huge disappointment when compared to Castle of Illusion. I remember being disappointed with how grainy the graphics were and how scratchy the voices were. It felt like a step backwards.

This video is brutally stupid. Giving graphics to Sega because of the two extra characters? Graphic quality is objectively Nintendo. But the 2 extra players matter for presentation, and the smoother running game (due to, ya know, having significantly worse graphics) matters for gameplay. So it's a Sega win, but not because of graphics

The joke about Spiderman having to find Venom's dog was pretty funny considering everyone else was asking him to find their pets. Maybe I'm an idiot for not guessing it from a mile away. I still chuckled.

Played both games back in the 90s in middle school. The genesis one was superior to me. no internet just frustration and a desire to keep progressing. there are 2 endings on the sega version as well that can be achieved by doing just a little extra. The enemies and life bar issues aren't a problem, you just switch characters like you do in TMNT for NES. health is everywhere in the genesis game and once you figure out 1 puzzle it's quick and easy to knock out. I felt like the SNES version was lazilly designed and could have had any other characters in it, whereas the genesis version had tons of characters and so many scenes from the show. If you want something to play for a few hours and put down grab the SNES version if you want a game to keep seeing eastereggs and homages to the source material play the sega game

Yeah, the top view levels in Contra The Alien War are the worst part of the game.

I don’t know if I’m just bad at fighting games or if this game is really difficult but iv had this game for Sega since I was 8 yrs old. Never got past the 2nd or 3rd guy. Still even today.

If you added in the newly remastered 32x DOOM 'ressurected' that improves the performance, adds a ton of features, even split screen multi-player, it's game over 🫣 Buuut, in reality gotta say SNES DOOM **SLIGHTLY** better than the original 32x version.. the controls, the music. Those 2 overcome the graphics imo, but not even close to the ressurected 32x (which runs on original hardware)

One funny issue I've noticed with the Sega CD version is that players replaced that were NOT Charles Barkley have the SAME stats as the players they replaced. As a Bucks fan, it's funny seeing Vin Baker have the 3 point capabilities of Brad Lohaus which were better than Eric Murdock, who had the same ratings as Blue Edwards.

Great video! I knew about these games from back in the day. But never played either version. I saw the normal Console Wars SNES vs Genesis video on games, which was great. And this is adds another layer of great info about the games! The CD game does look kind of interesting. But, I'll take your advice, and look at the normal Genesis/Mega Drive version first! :D

I actually think the SEGA version does run a little faster, it's not just the music that makes it seem that way. In a couple of side-by-side shots you had, things on the SEGA side moved faster. It's especially noticeable in the menu screens you showed. And (unless I'm mistaken) it's also in the gameplay.

Fun fact about this game. This was the first video game I saw on sale brand new for over $100 before tax. I was amazed.

Sound definitely goes to Sega, IMO. Then again, it reminded me some of like Zero Tolerance and Shadowrun (Genesis). Both nostalgic.

Honestly I'm wondering if you guys even played the game. The Sega version is multiple orders of magnitude better than the SNES version. The Snes version barely even functions as a game as the hit detection is completely broken whereas the genesis hit boxes are perfect. The music is so amazing on the genesis. Top 5 soundtracks on the system. The Snes music is absolute trash.

The SNES was sneaky. It was a good system but not this gem everyone remembers. Sega CD was more powerful and could when used properly obliterate SNES

I ask you because IN EVERY SINGLE Console Wars video I've seen, the Super Nintendo always wins on the graphics side....could you give me some examples where the SEGA Genesis wins on the graphics side? Or a game where the SEGA console wins the war? I've never found it so far, and yet I think I've seen all your videos guys!
