I very much consider Constantine XI as a CHAD amongst Emperors of Rome simply because the man saw his dying Empire falling by this unstoppable man made force and instead of running away or surrendering he just looks towards his soldiers who’s names will never be recorded in history and was like “ Yeah that’s right, I’ve stayed to kick ass for the Glory of Rome, come at me plebs I know you are maiden-less” what a dude.

Growing up in the middle east, I was mostly taught about our region's history and ofc Islamic history The part about the Ottoman Empire was probably the longest with the most information to memorize and my history teacher was Hella strict But I only learned about the Ottoman side of things and barely anything about the byzantine empire itself besides "they're enemy = they're bad" so learning about their art in university + Constantine himself from Fate is an interesting experience As for the nation itself, Turkey is a place I love dearly visiting it every year for about 10 years now, most of those times only being in Istanbul. Turkey's historical ruins are present all over Istanbul especially, you'll see alot of remains of fortress walls etc, the hagia Sofia being open for visiting and prayers + as a museum as well Also alot of the names of locations in Istanbul didn't change that much damn Btw fun fact, Mehmet is just the turkish pronunciation of the Arabic name Mohammad

With his death, and the capital of Constantinople (New Rome) conquered, the millennia and a half empire of the Romans came to an end. Such a tragic end for the Romans, honestly, it's just surprising that they lasted this long, while barbaric kingdoms around them come and go, the Roman Empire still stood, because just like before (like Hannibal continuing to kick their butts) they are stubborn and choose to fight for another day.
