Thanks for such a great review. Very attractive watch! Love the matching pattern on the inner bracelet links, side of the lugs, and clasp.

Interesting design. Very ornate. Wish the horned lugs were a bit more obvious, honestly. But nice overall. Reasonably priced considering the details. After owning a Traska, I feel like everything should have a hardness coating. Definitely makes sense with something so ornate like that etching.
@JonathanTReviews6 ай бұрын
Yeah, the horned lugs are more subtle than many, for better or worse depending on preference. I can relate on the hardened coating. They tend to spoil you, especially on ones like this that would greatly benefit from it. Cheers

Awesome! They did a really nice job of capturing the vintage feel while still making it their own. Cheers

The elements are fantastic. Love the hands and the case shape. Also a huge fan of "small" 3link style bracelets that are easier to size and wear. I'm torn on the ornate center links, i think this is the first time ive seen something like this from factory. DRZ04 great comparison!

They really did a lot right with this "first" offering! Same here with the center links. With a hardened coating, I'd be all in after experiencing it in person (I wasn't sure how I'd feel from pics). Without the coating, I do have a modicum of concern with how it will age assuming typical scuffs/wear. Cheers

Very interesting and well designed watch with and interesting movement. However, I'm not sure about the etched pattern on the bracelet and the clasp. I believe less would have been more here. I get it, they wanted the hour hand to touch that inner edge. But you're right, basically it needs to be a little bit shorter.
@JonathanTReviews6 ай бұрын
I was unsure how I'd feel about the bracelet pattern as well. In person, I've found that I enjoy the look. It's fairly subtle most of the time but adds something different. I imagine it will be polarizing though. Agreed about the hour hand. It might not have been as visually appealing but would definitely help with legibility. Cheers

What an attractive, visually appealing watch. The dial is fantastic as well as the bracelet and I absolutely love the crown shape, makes it very easy to pull the crown to set the time in my opinion. I also like the fact that it looks like nothing else I've seen. Nice thorough and informative review. Thank you.

When I saw this around the release of the first batch it did catch my eye. It certainly has an unusual aesthetic, so that is sure yo warrant some attention. However, I soon found myslef doubting the desirability of various aspects. Since then, Tennet released their Somerset. Albeit on leather, that watch also implements design ideas in heaps, but while the price is steep, it keeps me coming back. With the Constellar I keep being drawn to my doubts. What are these doubts: 1. This watch is far too thick for a manual wind and doesn't wear it's thickness well. That much is clear in the always helpful comps, but even without those, to me I see the slab. 2. The side of the luga offer some visual interest. Perhaps this emphasises the bear slab of the side profile further and they should have considered continuing that polished rimmed pebbled reces across the whole of the side. 3. This still would nkt havd been a full solution, as it would clash with the bezel, which is oddly utilitarian looking. This watch needed soemthing more elegant and possibly soekthing more intricstely detailed. 4. The fitted endlinks feel a little chunky and end the etched centre link pattern disruptly. I'm even wondering if fitting the endlinks is quite right for this bracelet design (though no doubt changing that would affect wearing comfort). 5. I feel ambivalent about both the etching on the centre links and the undulating subseconds track. Their details I would need to get convinced by in person, as I can see the argument. 6. I am not a fan of that logo, which is a pity, seen that it is prominent without the 12 o'clock marker and applied. However, this on the whole leads to a watch that feels intriguing, initially looks appealing, but then leaves me with a mixed bag of elements and execution. I think probably anong the perceived flaws, the thickness/side case and bezel I feel are the most crucial. With those refined I might also be more inclined to overlook or not feel so drawn to the other little details, but to accept tham as a more baaknced whole.

Thanks, as always, for sharing your detailed thoughts! I think it fortunately wears thinner than it presents, but do agree it's on the thicker side for a manual wind. I can certainly see the design elements, especially the bracelet pattern, being polarizing. It adds to the distinctiveness but can also be a deciding factor. Cheers

@@JonathanTReviews in fact, I love them for trying, I'm just not sure it was attention spent I the right area. For me the thinness possible with manual wind is the only really justifiable tradeoff. That's to say, if a manual wind doesn't achieve a thin build, then why not give me an automatic (cf. also the wandering star)? So, really, I think the attention on decorating the bracelet should have gone into thinning, better side case, and more fitting bezel. But hey, not all watches need to please me. As said, looking at it now, it kind of reminds me of the Tennet Somerset (not because they're that alike, but both clearly distinguish themselves through many decorative elements), but I far prefer the Tennet, albeit without a bracelet. I actually don't have clear how they compare in price.
