If a MP, MLA changes party we shouldn't mind kicking him out. But other than that off course they should be f*ckin allowed to vote on their own!
@WorldToMe7 жыл бұрын
Swapna Naik ofcourse, i dont know how can this be a thing. The only work of a representative is to represent its people and if he/she can't even vote on behalf of his people then how he is a representative.

well, anti-defection law can be appreciated if its amended in some specific terms... It shouldn't be the responsibility of political party leaders to make their MPs vote, but the speaker should be given some power to make sure that the MPs are present and each Mp must be bound to give his/her opinion for the bill independent of what their respective leaders think about it! Voting must be made mandatory, but the favor in which a MP wants to vote shouldn't be narrated by their leader!

Regarding subscription ... I live outside India and like to pay only through pay pal (your current payment walls are not working in europe and I dont like to use credit cards for any subscriptions ).... i know paypal takes more money from you but if you can pass on that costs to willing subscribers.... I will be more than happy to bear that extra costs (lot of websites already doing this ...offering same services with multiple options to pay .. direct bank transfer being cheapest to paypal being costliest= ...... Another great way to monetise this is that put your audio visual content for sale in youtube where we can buy individual episodes when ever I want..

Anti-defection is necessary because, MPs should have to trust their party in certain issues. There can be differences between people of the party but they should resolve them before they put it on the table of parliament.

Aravind Vadde I think his point was that level of order and synchroneity demands a price , which is true democracy. We can't have both
@aravindvadde29417 жыл бұрын
Hari Krishnan oh thanks for that, I would go with order , it would give more vision to our country, but at one point of time again a revolution will takes place if the order goes out of the hand , obviously it will because it's our politicians who think parliament is a longue don't they?.

Our legislators are elected on a party ticket. For example, in Tamilnadu, people voted for Jayalalithaa's AIADMK, not to any random Tom Dick and Harry. When you are elected because of the party you belong to (otherwise there should be no party symbol in the EVM), obviously the party has a role to play in deciding how legislations are voted upon. Imagine 543 people, each demanding their share of the pie when voting on an issue. For example an MP in South India doesn't care/know about the requirements of the North East. So why would that MP vote favourably to a bill helping that region? Anti-defection law is necessary for effective governance. It is ridiculous to put it as a fight between democracy and Fascism. It is more like a fight between disruption and development.
@RushilNagda7 жыл бұрын
I think the debate about anti defection boils down to what we believe an MPs duty is. If the MPs primary responsibility is to his or her constituency then it is not justifiable to have an anti-defection law. An MP should simply vote according to the benefits a bill grants his or her constituents. The GST for example was not beneficial to producer states like MH or TN. And BJP MPs from these regions should have voted against it (or faced the electoral consequence). But if an MPs duty is the development of the nation at large then it does make some sense to favour a less disruptive process and delegate the debate one level lower to within parties, with parties as a whole voting as a block. The presence of an anti-defection law, but with greater representation from regional parties (like the AIADMK) makes for the ideal balance for now. Less horse trading combined with better representation. Coalition governments might just be more democratic in this sense.

i think u guys missed one important clause or loophole of anti defection law.....that is if a group of legislative members (i think more than 8) except the leader of party defect to their opposition party the this law is not applicable!! since majority of the members have oppinion fifferent from their leader they can defect to rival party without their membership disqualified!! example?? arunachal pradesh recently became a BJP state after its large no of ruling congress party members jointly joined BJP party!! so simple BJP won the state without even election!!

Order completely! We cannot afford to get rid of Anti-defection currently. It will turn our ministers from Policy-makers to the managers of MPs.
@akmisraji7 жыл бұрын
Utkarsh Gaur But, ministers are NOT policy makers, MPs are. That's the whole point. Ministers, just "execute" the policies (made by parliament/MPs) 😀
@utkarsh96aware7 жыл бұрын
Abhilash Misra That's also true vaise, But Afterall the bills are usually introudced by the government and they are approved by the parliament. If the anti-defection goes, any govt. which comes in power will feel it's very difficult for it to implement it's vision for the country.
@akmisraji7 жыл бұрын
Utkarsh Gaur The solution to that isn't anti-defection law but Strong "Anti-Corruption" law, which, btw, has already been passed(albeit, weak) still the Govt didn't implement it. And so that the Govt/Democracy doesn't get reduced to a handful few, anti-defection has to go.
@utkarsh96aware7 жыл бұрын
Abhilash Misra A law won't make any difference you know that. There would still be deals between MPs and Govt. then. I think we are not ready to get rid of anti-defection abhi
