Constructing a mountain range backdrop.

I have finally got around to building a backdrop. I went with a Great Dividing Range concept. This range runs the entire length of the east coast of Australia. I have explained the method I used, I should have watched some KZbin vids first as I made a few mistakes that were a pain to correct. But anyway, this will give an idea of the look I am trying to achieve. I will construct some trees, bushes etc down the track and try and make it look realistic.
Why people put so much lacquer on locomotives is a mystery. I prefer Long-life floor polish, it goes on thin and does the job perfectly. Have a good week.

Hi Steven, nice work on the rocky range backdrop, its not easy making rocky scenerry and getting the colors right. The Praires run very well, the first one just needs new Decals to finish it off. Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏

Hi Paul, the range is a bit of an ongoing project, but I'm liking it so far. Lima Prairies are great little runners mate, I'm looking through Fox transfers to see if they have replacement transfers. Will be handy if they do but not banking on it. Steven.

Hi Steven, the mountain range looks good although the colours seem a bit sharp. Of course I don't know what the Great Dividing Range looks like but assuming you are trying to replicate distant mountains then I think the colour should be more hazy, more gray with a hint of the orangy browns. I was amazed at how the rivet detail stood out on the prairie tank loco. David.

Hi David, the Lima Prairies will run superbly on any track, including points. They were quality for their time. Yeah my weathering powders will make the colours less obvious, along with vegetation and water stains. My little town is based at the foot of the ranges, so the different types of rock colour can show through. I did start out with greys and blues with dry brushed highlights, but it was not what I was after, so I started again. Long way to go yet. Steven.
