Here's 6 construction materials tested for different simulated earthquakes! Do you live in a seismically active country? Let's start a conversation below!
-----------------------
24/7 LIVE Earthquake Monitoring - ‪@GlobalQuake‬ / @globalquake
----------------------
Music and Sound Effects provided by Epidemic Sound: share.epidemicsound.com/dp0zag
----------------
I hope my simulations will educate the general public about potential earthquake related hazards and create more curiosity about Earth Science in general. I do also hope that my videos will inspire a future generation of amazing architects, engineers and scientists! We all need to peacefully work together to make this world a better place. :)
My goal is to show people around the world the effects of different earthquake shaking levels on various buildings and structures.
These simulations along with my piano music (Spotify/KZbin: open.spotify.com/artist/1hFDa... ) are part of my lifelong project called "In Terra Pax" that aims to bring financial and emotional support to victims affected by earthquakes around the world.

@@EarthquakeSim comment, that's not a brick building. A brick building is made out of bricks, multistory, in almost every country of the world. Fake brick buildings are a weird US thing. Indeed , quakes are natural enemies of brick houses, as wind is the killer of US homes, inkluding fake brick structures.
@Saviliana

@@iamarizonaball2642 No, because bricks are not airtight, moist will built up inside and eat out the rebar in between, also it would be a problem when interchanging bad bricks after rebars are installed.

Surely the internal structure of the building, as well as its materials has an impact on the building staying up or not. In your example the brick cladding collapsed but not the tower to begin with, then the building collapsed potentially in part due to no longer having the cladding. Also like to see Laminated wood vs Wooden comparison. Seems a lot of building going down that path these days.

This may be the case with new buildings, constructed by the cheapest methods, but when we add time, and other disasters, or compare with the advanced methods, then stone/concrete-bricks are the first materials which are passing the test of time, even in the seismic zones, and unreinforced-concrete comes second, especially in the seismic zones, while buildings constructed with steel and wood are always the most exposed to degradation.
