Construction of Navy vessels underway in South Australia

Construction on the first Hunter Class Frigate is underway at South Australia's Osborne Shipyard.
The six vessels will be at the cornerstone of Australia's largest naval fleet since World War Two.
More than 3,000 people will help build the Hunter Class vessels.

Let’s hope the next three Hunter Class vessels actually take place given government proclivity to reduce orders. My hope is that the second tranche of ships are the ‘ upgunned’ variant offered by BAE systems, which involves including 96 VLS cells rather than the anaemic 32, given that our navy is desperately low VLS capability ( comparable to ships in our region )

The fact is that they have the Air Warfare Destroyers to benchmark against and they are well aware that the Future Frigates with the CEA radar fitted won't be anywhere near as capable as the Air Warfare Destroyers. Obviously they can't have my radar designs to make them world class so unless they do a complete redesign with a different radar and combat system they will be a waste of taxpayers money. BAE have been losing contracts worldwide for good reason. 😎🇦🇺👎

Really? We were getting 9 under the LNP, all Labor has done is cut it back to 6. They also cut the IFV order from 450+ back to 130, reduced the F35 order by 24, and the K9 SPA by 6, and they were handed the AUKUS deal on a platter.
