Thanks, the rear camera is very nice for close quarters (helps me run over fewer kid bikes too).

That's crazy. I literally have done something similar. I also use a second phone for hotspot, solar. I also installed a Ring video Doorbell "WIRED" to the outside of the side door. Plus the Optimus Tracker as well like you the Phone can also be tracked. The Optimus Tracker also has tamper alerts. someone could lightly shake my trailer and I get an Alert. Mini Split is next and before Winter I am installing a Diesel Heater for cold winters. The ramp in secured/locked from the inside as well as 2 puck locks on the outside. Am also planning on installing a hard wired deadbolt inside the side door that works off a Key Fob remote. You will have to cut your way into this trailer and if you steal it I will find you quickly.

Yeah, I see a lot of trailers with a master lock as the only weapon against thievery. Most of the stories I hear about thievery is from grab and dashes. They left a tool out or their trailer open and some tools went missing. I installed the phone/gps after a couple of guys tried to break into my truck while I was helping a little old lady move into an apartment. They stole a car, and then used that stolen car to try to steal my truck. I walked right by them and didn't notice they had broken my door lock. I realized that securing my trailer does no good if someone can take the whole kit-&-kaboodle and I'd have zero recourse to find them. Have fun with yours!

Great setup I was thinking of building shelving in my trailer never thought of using the metal racks how do you like them?
@MyFortressConstruction3 жыл бұрын
I love them. However, if you have a bunch of boxes that are the same size, a sloped plywood shelf is also a great solution. It really depends on what will be put on them. With my miscellaneous assortment of boxes, the metal shelves are really great.
@stephenspencer38834 жыл бұрын
Could you flip your metal shelving upside down so the shelves would have a natural lip to hold your tools inside the shelf with less or no bungy cords?
@MyFortressConstruction4 жыл бұрын
Someone else suggested that, but the problem might be with the conical design. It is more narrow at the top of each bracket to squeeze the shelf clips and if it were upside down it might not be totally secure or might break the clips. The bungee cords aren't that bad and they do a good job of keeping things from flying off the shelves.

Wondering what size trailer you have? Interior dimensions? Single or dual axle?
@MyFortressConstruction3 жыл бұрын
It's a 7x14 dual axle though I couldn't tell you the internal dimensions.
@igorkuzmanovski55522 жыл бұрын
You should turn the shelves upside down the lip will stop the tools failing out
@MyFortressConstruction2 жыл бұрын
The problem is that the shelf brackets only work vertically. You could weld them upside down, but otherwise it wouldn't work.

Can you flip the metal racks upside down? so that you can have passive restraints. no need bungees
@MyFortressConstruction3 жыл бұрын
No, these shelves have a tapered cone that puts pressure on the plastic clamp (which holds it on the shelf) so they couldn't be inverted.

What brand of backup camera and solar panel are you using? Would you buy them again?
@MyFortressConstruction4 жыл бұрын
I'm using a "Do Honest" brand back up camera. They give you two back up cameras and an extra long antenna if you don't get good reception from your furthest camera (it really made a difference). The cameras are decent and haven't had any issues from water penetration. I welded them to the trailer though they can be bolted as well. Not the best setup for a hitch backup camera since it is difficult to mount such a heavy camera anywhere on a bumper. I would just look around at the different reviews on Amazon to find exactly what you're looking for because it seems they are all just rebranded from the same manufacturer. the same goes for the solar panels as I've had three different brands and they've all performed equally. If you're going to have partial light though I do recommend using polycrystalline over monocrystalline. Rich solar and renogy are two brands I remember.

have you ever weighted your trailer loaded? I have a 20 foot trailer and am concerned about the overweight limit.

Nope, not yet. Kind of scared to.

plugging into a homeowners home and running an AC unit is a sure way to get promptly tossed off the job IMO.
@MyFortressConstruction4 жыл бұрын
It's funny, I hear "Doing/Having/Saying *Fill in the Blank* will get you tossed off the job..." All of the time! But I have never seen it happen. The construction industry is so desperate for workers that I've even seen drugs and alcohol tolerated on job sites. It's scary working with someone when you're not sure if they're high, drunk, mental, or all three. As far as an A/C unit getting you tossed off a job... What, are you working for the Amish? ;)
@bantambryce48584 жыл бұрын
Where did you get that AC unit?
@MyFortressConstruction4 жыл бұрын
I didn't, it came with the trailer. But it's a dometic ceiling mount RV AC unit. Works sort of like a window unit you just have to make sure you seal it to your roof and have support under it.

Thanks for the reply! Very interested, as my black trailer gets hot in the summer
@MyFortressConstruction4 жыл бұрын
@@bantambryce4858 You're welcome, my first trailer was a dark green and it was made from sheet metal so it got baking hot in there. I sanded it all down and painted it white with some epoxy paint and that helped a lot but it still got hot without airflow. In this trailer, to support the AC above, they put a piece of 1/2" plywood in-between the purlins and metal on the roof and then they put 1" angle iron across the purlins on both sides of the a/c to reinforce the ceiling. Never had any leaks from it. You just have to know how to flash it with your roof.

The whole power/solar setup in the trailer i never understood inside the trailer? Why do you need power in there you don't work in there you store in there. If you are working in there then you are walking to much on the job.
@MyFortressConstruction3 жыл бұрын
The solar power is for running the GPS, wifi, and security system. It also charges my tablet/computer/phone and the occasional battery.
