Why on earth would you buy a Tesla over a Camry that gives you no problems, cheap to buy and run, and great resale, well built , and will run for 30 years.

It feels like this is the right choice for your readers. I think the criticism of the gauge cluster on the X-trims is a bit picayune; you learn the menus pretty quickly, and its also basically the same digital cluster in most Toyotas. I guess nitpicking is good, though, bc it speaks to the execution of the vehicle overall. Also, I loved the questions about the "sample defects." Would love to see that again.

Glad it wasn’t a BMW, Mercedes or Audi then those batteries cost $500 30:17 based on coworkers that have various German cars. I did have a rear lamp assembly I had to replace due to water getting into it. Was odd. But that’s it. I plan on keeping this cars until it no longer drives or I break down & buy a new EV. Just rented the new Camry LE for two days, just to see how it works. I managed 55miles per gallon, cruising at 65 miles per HOUR, on a 250 mile trip. Subsequently, I managed 51miles per gallon, cruising at 71 miles per HOUR on a 400 mile trip. The transition from ICE to EV power although I could see it on the screen animation, was pretty much imperceptible. Very impressed with gas mileage. My only issue was the seats were not comfortable, and the steering was not as accurate or responsive as my 2020 Accord Hybrid, or the new 2024 models that I have rented as of late. Interior, just seemed made of cheaper materials. But if my only choices were the Hybrid Camry or Hybrid Accord, I would lean towards the Accord, just because of its sportier handling.

Toyota's have been selling hybrids in Europe (almost) exclusively for a few years now. Yaris, Corolla, RAV4, their big sellers, Prius (of course) are all exclusively hybrids. So they have had some experience on that front, and are confident about the reliability of their systems on a large scale. Which, granted, can be a scary proposition (eggs in one basket and so on). As for their trucks, that's a different story. I wouldn't get a scaled up hybrid system for a work truck. Rather, a diesel, turbo-diesel even, or in the US, a V8.

I think it’s smart to make hybrids just the regular offering. More car companies should do that and stop trying to make hybrids work when they clearly aren’t what most people want or can afford. Even if hybrids could go as far as gas cars or could charge in 5 minutes the infrastructure to charge them is still 10 years or more away.
@reachblowsdick72225 ай бұрын
How is making hybrids the regular offering smart? Once the hybrid batteries give up it's thousands to replace and then there's the hybrid braking system that if it fails will cost as much as replacing the whole hybrid batteries. I had a Prius that hit 160K miles with no issues but once the batteries and brake recharging systems failed, the cost to replace both was almost $10K. I traded it for a regular Camry, my Prius lasted 10 years trouble free but the little money I saved on gas was less than half of what it would cost to get my Prius running normal again, NOT worth it. Meanwhile my uncle still has his old 1999 Camry with over 360K miles which he uses to drive to work everyday, and he paid $10K back then because it was pre owned. Paying $10K for a car that's 25 years old and still running, sounds like a better investment than I got for my Prius.

So if you buy a non-Tesla today you will need to buy a CCS charger and then replace it in the future at some point or use annoying adapters. They definitely made these too low. Back 10 years ago or 20 it was 3 inches taller and the headroom was great front and back. And People want to sit higher too
@Sashazur5 ай бұрын
They figure if you want to sit higher you’ll get a Crown or a RAV4 etc. The new Prius is even lower.

100% agree!

I need to sit higher because I have a bad back. Im slim, 5'10 and test drove the SE. Headroom was fine, nothing noticeable. but I want the XSE with the panoramic. Based on what these guys are saying, It's clear I need to test drive the exact car with moonroof it before ordering. Camry drove great though. I drive crazy in my 2014 civic, and I can continue in a Camry.

Absolutely, the Crown would be an alternative, but with no heads up display, I'm not pay 50K. Best deal was the Venza.

Is Mike Quincy's ego so big that he couldn’t let someone else host the show this week? Had to turn it off after 5 minutes because of that nasally 'teenager's hormones are changing' voice. 🤒

Annoyed that the gas tank size keeps getting smaller with each new generation. Range is one of the best Camry attributes. Still great, but would love to have the 2012 17 gallon tank back at least as an option. Not sure why only full size trucks have a bigger gas tank option.
@djplonghead54035 ай бұрын
The Camry still gets 600 miles of range on a tank. A prius has an 11.3 gallon tank and can do 600 miles. I think that is plenty. The larger gas tank- the more weight and less cargo room... smaller trunk or no spare tire.

Camry is a solid old man’s car. There’s no driving dynamics that compare to either my MY or M3. And don’t get me started on the technology aspects. If you haven’t had your butt in the seat of a Tesla then you are missing something special. This is coming from someone that only owned Toyota and Lexus in the past.

Great until you have to pay $6000 to replace the battery pack. Most folks won’t keep their car that long but for those who keep cars till they are old enough to drink that skews the economics out of favor (low yearly mileage).
@FJBomb5 ай бұрын
Would you HAVE to replace the battery pack though? Or would the car operate like a regular ICE vehicle with a dead battery pack?
@ericweber82355 ай бұрын
The battery packs last longer the the ice engines now.
@kurthunter52065 ай бұрын
@@FJBomb There are Camry hybrids with 500,000 miles (taxis) that have not replaced the battery pack. Now the have after market batteries & some places replace the bad cells.

I think it will be a horrible car, they reduced the hp, adopted the CVT. It is just weird like they adopted risks while they stayed conservative

@jackdjacki1872....... The CVT is not like all the rest, as it does not use ANY FORM of a belt! I is done ELECTRONICALLY.

Remember the more Hybrid Toyota/Lexus make for the A to B vehicles, the more fun cars they can also make (GR Corolla, GR86 etc). So no V6 for the Camry? I can deal with it, as long as Toyota/Lexus keep the GR line-up, TRD PROs and Lexus V8 F and F Sport Performance products coming.

Toyota quality is not good anymore, just look at all the recalls, and buy backs. If they built a reliable car the company wouldnt be over 200 billion in debt, more than any company in the world.

The 9th Generation 2025 Camry is the worst Camry that Toyota has ever produced. It's slow, lame, and Ugly inside out. The demise of the Toyota Camry is now here. ThanksToyota for ruining a good thing. I will never ever buy another Toyota vehicle again.
