Great design - any particular reason why you use 4mm spectra for the quick release cord instead of just another short length of the 4mm braided line?

Loretta Hutchison I guess it should be in a different colour so that in an emergency you can yell at the other person to pull the blue line.

I guess I will give your design a try. Just one Q: Why the swivel shackle? Wouldn't a fixed eye shackle do the trick, too? I assume to have the quick release shackle at my end anyways, so I assume I can place it in all practical ways properly. Thanks!

Love your work, but from experience I would like to offer two comments on your short tow: This is too short for rough water as you want a little distance between you and your towee. The quick release shackle like this only works properly when it is linked into a metal ring, not a rope loop. The rounded end tends to catch in a rope loop. Scratches Inmygelcoat Thanks for you comments, however this is a contact tow, it is not intended to tow kayaks inline. The use of it is intended to attach across the decks of 2 kayaks from the outside perimeter lines, enabling 1 person to paddle/support 2 kayaks. If you are in Melbourne drop past our training center it would be great to show you how it is intended to work. All our Sea Starter Course participants learn the technique. Towing techniques will be a topic for a KZbin in the near future.
