Tugs should be a mandatory requirement for all large ships going near infrastructure.

There's two reasons why there was no tug on the Dali. Once off the pier, it's a straight shot to the bay. 47 years and thousands of ships have passed the bridge safely. The other thing is that due to the added cost, around 3k an hour with a min. of four hours, most shippers decline the tug, which is legal. Of course, in hindsight, a lot of things will be changed. Decades with no problems brings complacency.

let me say this the tugs are at the owners and pilots discretion

@@williamkellerchipdrill In most places, infant car seats used to be at the parents' discretion.

What about all those containers still sitting on the Dali? Obviously all that’s gonna be a claims Filed by multiple customers. Fright may even be damaged from the elements by now too.

Look tugs. Too late now nothing left the damage.

I just wonder how complicated this mission is, because every time I watch what they call a "new update" and I see those large trusses still on the Dali I just skip😢
