The Planar 45/2. And this option is great for the 35mm but $600 just for the new housing… I don't know. It's more expensive than the lens itself. Your video, great as always.

The 21mm with it's external viewfinder! Look into Hawks Factory in Taiwan. They make an adapter similar to funleader, and have one for the 21mm Contax G. I don't own a G adapter, but do have a Hawks adapted Nikkor 50mm 1.4 millennium to leica M, and its a nicely made product.

Thanks for the content! What are you thoughts on contax g vs the classic contax zeiss distagon lenses in terms of cinematic feel?
@Caracalaba3 жыл бұрын
I got a geeky question, why the titanium on the contax g looks much better than the prox3 one? I was kind of dissapointed when I saw the xpro3 in real life, it looks just like a paint whereas the contax looks like a coating or something like that. I've heard that titanium is hard to process, it seems like the expertise of applying it to cameras has been forgotten
@GxAce3 жыл бұрын
I wish I knew! Haha the Contax does look way better than the xpro3. I’ve also dropped my Contax G1 down an entire flight of stairs before and it didn’t even get a scratch.
@ufukkiblat3 жыл бұрын
Because on the Contax it was raw titanium color, they don't add any paint on top of that (same with Fuji TX1). On the X-Pro3 they added paint (black, silver and matte black wit dura coating). Titanium is actually very durable compare to brass but very scratch-able and hard to paint..very common problem on the black X-Pan, I think Fuji want to avoid this so they added dura coating with paint underneath. It might not look as cool but it will be as durable plus you have scratch resistant.

I don't see a point of these conversions when you can get a brand new Zeiss ZM glass for about the same price. A Zeiss Planar ZM is well under $1K. You really have to own both Contax G and a M body to take advantage of it. But when you can afford both, you can definitely afford two sets of glass for both mounts.
@GxAce3 жыл бұрын
It’s a completely different lens from those. The ZM Zeiss is a Biogon design. Not similar at all.
@erichung90433 жыл бұрын
@@GxAce I know unless you can tell the differences from the images. The Biogon design on paper would be superior to Planar for wide angle (hence, the Contax G 35mm F2 didn't have as good reputation as its 45mm F2 sibling). The ZM designs are faithful to the original Zeiss Ikon designs from the 30s but with modern coatings. The Contax G series glass came out of Kyocera/Yashica line and is not a true Zeiss AG product. It 's just branded similar to Sony Zeiss glass. If I want to shoot true Zeiss, I would be more inclined to adapt Zeiss Opton or Jena glass with rangefinder coupling. So far I have only seen Amedeo does that and its adapter is hard to find. For that matter, the original fully mechanical Contax II and IIa are also less expensive than the electronic Contax G series in the used market.
@VariTimo3 жыл бұрын
Fuck these not so old Zeiss lenses are gorgeous!! Too bad almost no one is making lenses like these anymore. Voigtländer probably being the only ones. Not enough sample images tho!
@GxAce3 жыл бұрын
Yeah they are! I wish people did make lenses like this still. Absolutely, they are definitely the closest for sure. Yeah I got a few toys recently and didn't devote enough time to getting actually good photos with this setup hahah. I didn't worry too much since its more about the housing, but I will definitely keep up my sample photo game in the future.
@NJ18103 жыл бұрын
In my opinion there are more than enough Leica lens options out there, from numerous manufacturers. And all this does is take lenses away from people who actually use the Contax G system. Yes, they are prone to break because of electronics but against common belief there actually are people who repair Contax G bodies. Replacing a broken one with another Contax body is also still much cheaper than switching to Leica. If you feel like you have to use the 45mm Planar lens then please just get a working Contax body and deal with it's quirks. My opinion.
@GxAce3 жыл бұрын
Well that's the very reason that I love that this kit is reversible, because I too absolutely love the Contax cameras and never did do the MS-Optical conversion because it wasn't reversible. I want my lenses to be able to be used on as many cameras as possible. The Contax G system is one of the most beautiful cameras out there, and because this kit is so simple to do, you can shoot a roll with your G1 and swap the lens over to a leica or mirrorless camera with good manual focus in under the time it took to watch this video.
@ahoyhere81133 жыл бұрын
oooooh and this makes the g system a no brainer, i was considering the system but the otherwise uselessness of the lenses was making me wonder if it’s a mistake
