Canon had for the Canon 7 a double bajonett. The inner was m39 and the other was for only one lens, the 0.95/50mm known as "dream lens".

Pretty much no contest. The Contax was a better camera until the M3 showed up. But servicing the Contax is a pain.

CONTAX was already into 1932 much better, than their matching Leica counterparts. It's such a shame, that Zeiss never developed the Contax IIa/IIIa furtherway...into the early-mid 50's CONTAX was king, and then came Nikon with their S2, and also Nikon F into 1958....and we do all know, how that ended...such a shame. I've asked via Mail Zeiss, what about a CONTAX revival into 2032 - 100 years of Contax? And they've said no, Contax is no more a well known brand, as Zeiss is...well played Zeiss, but since 2018 Zeiss developed their "hipstermaniac" ZX-1...and it was pretty clear right off the bat, this is a lost cause...and failure...and so it was...a huge, millions of lost ressources, money...for that Hipster camera...and furthermore, that new Distagon 35/F2 wasn't being released as separate lens, say for Sony E-Mount..which is such a shame...

Nikon did 3 revival in the early 2000. The Nikon Fm3a, The S3 and the SP. bear in mind that there was some infrastructure in the factory left when they did that. For Zeissnthis is a complete different ballgame. They haven't been building camera's for ages, so all the tooling for making them is long gone. To remanufacture this it takes a lot of money, educate people and remanufacture the tooling to remanufacture the camera... This is way to complex to do. Honestly I think this would be too expensive to do for Zeiss just to make a tribute camera. This would take most of the companies assets... how nice it would be... but we would lose Zeiss in the process....

I do know all of this, and i shoot film since 84, 35mm Film since 87. Still, don't own a Zeiss Ikon ZM. You've forgotten these ones, coming into 2005/6(silver & black) Nowadays, way too expensive. The FM3a was way too expensive, so was the SP. The S3 was a trickled down S2. Nikon S Series was clearly being copykatz from CONTAX, the II(a) design. I've had the FM, also FM2 black, sold it, because i do have other gear, which i like more.@@fretlessfender
