Contemporary hanbok design: Male hanbok suit by Guiroe | V&A

Korean designer Seonock Park established her contemporary fashion brand Guiroe in 2015. Park specialises in creating tailored suits for men that combine elements of traditional Korean dress (hanbok) and western fashion.
In this film, Park reveals the materials and techniques used to create the hanbok suit's unique design, her sources of inspiration, and her pride in working with traditional Korean fashion.
This film was produced to accompany the V&A exhibition Hallyu! The Korean Wave, on until 25 June 2023

That was so beautiful.I would have loved to see the suits being worn and then focusing on the detail.The information the designer gave was so interesting.She was so humble,giving other people and eras the reason for the beauty of the suits rather than showcasing her abilities.

She is one of my favorite hanbok designer. I own and wear her hanboks, from her earliest traditional designs to her latest contemporary creations, all in my daily life. While I have many hanboks from various designers, there is a certain charm to her clothes that make me want to wear them every day. She is undoubtedly one of the most talented hanbok designers, possessing a deep understanding and appreciation for the culture and values of Korean clothing, and has the ability to interpret and express them in the most modern way. To anyone looking for a traditional Korean hanbok that exudes both elegance and style, I confidently recommend the designs of Park Sun-ok.
