In this case, I take it that the defense attorney came to know that his client was lying and did what he had to do by filing a motion to withdraw. Wouldn’t that motion though also have to explain why he wants to withdraw? I mean, I get that the rule supersedes his obligation to defend his client, I guess what I don’t understand is the statement I’ve heard lawyers say many times that a defense attorney has an obligation to defend his client, even if he knows the client did it.

For those wondering, the attorney let his client speak to the judge and didn't say anything because he's required to do so. Anything else is suborning perjury and his obligation of candor to the tribunal requires that he say nothing. Everybody in the courtroom knows what it means when this happens so Judge knew the guy had lied to him before he even came into court that day (motion to withdraw filing indicated it).

The thing is, people are actually not good at telling when someone is lying to them. If it is a stranger, and the story isn't crazy, people only get it right 1/2 of the time. That includes body language "experts" who are actually no better at it than everyone else. That is the reason courts have cross examination as that can really help tell.

The defendant is then forced to explain himself. If it wasn’t for a video that forced his confession he would have never admitted the lies.

I apologize to the landlord for myself rushing to judgement on behalf of this defendent. He tried his best to help this man who is acting foolish and entitled. Its not right that people take advantage and lie for the sake of it.

He should be in prison and charged the going hourly rate for every single hour he spent wasting court time, not to mention community resources who unknowingly assisted him based on all the lies!! And YES.....Judge Simpson, why was he not held accountable for lying under oath????

So, is he saying that the doors were already locked, & that he couldn’t get in? Did I hear that correctly? If this is the issue, he should have emphasized his power point only 15 times more. If I understand him correctly? I don’t know.

What a plot twist. Dude had everyone on his side, and the landlord did seem pretty shady, but he was lying the whole time. He didn't just lie under oath. He committed fraud towards community mental health by telling them lies that caused them to spend money.

LMAO. It cracked me up the way the judge shifted position, put his head on his hands, as the defendanr just rambled on and on and on; making it aa he went along. He's appears to be the type who'll NEVER learn. The judge caught himsekf he really wanted to say SHUT UP (i kniw I did) MR ALLEN??? Oh, I guess it was Mr. Allen's day off. Lol

I noticed that too!! He had the word shut in his lips before he caught himself! This guy deserved the “shut up” for sure!
