whoever you are, i love you and you saved me. After injecting multiple data layer snippets into my website only for it to LOAD AFTER THE CONTAINER i can now rest knowing there's a better way. please continue making these videos

Hi, I just recently watched your video and there is an update in the Tag Type. GA4 Configuration is replaced with Google Tag and the "Fields to Set" tab is also replaced with "Configuration settings", "Shared event settings", and "Advanced Settings". Where can I find the "Fields to Set" tab in the new update. Thank you!

Is there a way to include pages from a subdomain as a content group?

I use the GTM data layer method. Is there a way to apply 2 content groups to 1 page and have them be separate? We tag a lot of our content with 2 content groups but they are combined into 1 in GA4. Example, we tag them with "Fires" and "HVAC" and in GA4 the content group shows up as "Fires,HVAC".

Is it possible to do these without tag manager? May be using gtag.js?

How can you include subdomains as a content group?
@simonecostantino2336 Жыл бұрын
Hi! By any chance are you able to see engaged sessions and new users within the content group report? In my case, it reports 0. Going crazy with this

Hi Simone. I just tried this and am getting the same issue that you are seeing. Weird! I'm thinking this has to be a bug, because I can't see why that data would show up at the page path level, but disappear at the content group level (which is just an aggregation of multiple page paths). I want to ask around about this issue and see if anybody else has thoughts. In the meantime, you could do a couple exports of different data sets then do a pivot table or VLOOKUP to smash this data together. But that's a pretty gross workaround for something that should be working inherently in the GA4 interface. I'll leave an update here if I discover anything more!

Thank you so much for sharing that Chris. I really appreciate it. This will work perfectly for a site I'm working on. A separate GA4 issue I'm having, maybe you know the answer - The website Site Search, Search Term Query Parameter has a hyphen in it (header-search) but it doesn't allow a hyphen in the enhanced measurement options. Any thoughts would be helpful
@ga4land Жыл бұрын
Thanks Shaun, glad the video will be helpful for you. That hyphen issue is wild-hyphens are so common in query strings that I'm amazed they didn't test for that when building GA4. A workaround would be to basically rebuild this default functionality yourself in Google Tag Manager. You could create a new GTM variable called "Search Term" with Variable Type of URL and Component Type of Query. The query key you select would be "header-search". Then you'd have to create a new GA4 Event tag in Tag Manager that would only trigger when someone conducted a search. Be sure to match the syntax of the default GA4 event: Event name: "view_search_results" Parameter: "search_term" Parameter value: that variable you just created, {{Search Term}} As long as you are using the same naming conventions as the native GA4 search, then this should populate natively into your GA4 reports. Hope this helps!

@@ga4land Thank you so much for taking the time to write that out. Funny thing - this morning I asked chatgpt and it gave me the same solution. And it works!!

Wow, I'm impressed that ChatGPT understands GA4 that well. I may need to use it to write the script for my next video. :P Either way, happy to hear that things are solved for you now!
