Thank you for putting this so simply. :) "Looking at the future with a negative mind is called 'fear.' Looking at the future with a positive mind is called 'hope.' For me, I don't even bother to look at either. Stay in the present moment and be content." ~ Ajahn Brahm

I experience chronic pain, alongside chronic depression. I jump between content and fear, depending on if I go back to my initial naive expectations of life - or just sit with it and accept what is. The latter happens far less if I absorb stress from my surroundings. Forgive others, forgive myself and letting go. That order works for me.

Excellent ideas. Thank you... "Be content in all conditions, by this the person is preserved from a bad condition and from lassitude. Shun grief and sorrow, they cause the greatest misery. Say: Jealousy eats the body and anger burns the liver. Refrain from these two as you would avoid a lion." ~ Baha'u'llah

I haven’t spoken to siblings in years. Why? Because of anger. Reconciliation? Not in the forceable future. Will I die before reconciling? Probably.

“Bare feet” in minus 15 degrees !!! Are you daft? 😧😨 Actually, and so true, when I accept things as they are ... accept the moment as it is, contentment arises.

There is some evidence that Jesus went to India and practiced as a monk after he came off of the cross.
