Family Feud was on hiatus at the time and Gene Wood had plenty of time to kill so he announced TPIR following the death of Johnny Olson until the start of the 1986 reboot of Card Sharks. By then, Rich Jeffries took his place before he, too, was replaced by Rod Roddy who quit Love Connection in order to announce TPIR. He would stay there for 17 years, 4 years longer than Johnny Olson.

Honestly, I think this was a better game than it's "replacement" To the Penny. Less confusing rules and much faster to play.
@joellafargue98826 күн бұрын
As I see it, To The Penny made its debut 20 years after Penny Ante was retired. It was created as part of the show's 50 anniversary season. Game play was definitely diffeent, but I don't think it's that confusing -- you have to select the correct price from a growing number of choices. Starts easy, but becomes more difficult as the game progresses and you have more prices to choose from with each succeeding product. A player can win up to $25,000, and this happened the very first time it was played (the player had been perfect up to the final round, which made him an automatic winner). You have to be very good (or very lucky) as pricing to win the top prize, but it can be, and has been, done.

I guess the rights to playing "real" music cues for the jukebox were getting too expensive, so the TPiR producers switched to original generic compositions.

"Separate Lives" by Phil Collins & Marilyn Martin and The Miami Vice TV Soundtrack were the #1 single and album respectively in the U.S. during that time period. In the U.K., it was "A Good Heart" by Feargal Sharkey and "The Promise" by Sade. Oh, I did I mention that November 27, 1985 was the day BEFORE Thanksgiving. Hope you like "Yogi's First Christmas" because it was everywhere in the TV listings following it.
