Thanks Sam, being considering the new Anakee Road but given they are the modern version of the panikee 3's it's narrowed my choice down to Road 6 or Anakee Adventure, vstrom 650.

Corrr, you're a brave man using them in mud! Had them on the Tracer and they clogged up faster than a new girlfriend's toilet on the first date! They are great tyres though!

I’ve done 8000km so far and I’m still on the original Mitas tires but I’ll need replacement soon. I guess I’m going for Michelin Anakees or Road 6s… I can’t fault Michelin tires, I’m riding them on different bikes for the last 20 years or so but there are so many choices now. Very informative video you made here! Cheers, Lupo

Sam, I swear by Avon Trailriders. Absolutely brilliant tyre on the road, super sticky wet or dry, and they dont move if you’re crossing white lines, banding or even manhole covers! I think they would be even better than the Conti Trail 3’s. Ive got a 1250 GSA and currently sporting Road 6’s, once these wear out I’m going back to the Avon Trailriders! Think this speaks volumes. Try them and do one of your fantastic reviews, you’ll love them.😊

Your videos have massively helped and also massively added to the confusion at the same time :D From bingeing all of your videos, I thought i'd finally narrowed down my choices to Road 6's and Anakees, only to then add Scorpion trail 2's to the equation, then Scorpion STR's, and now...now these Contitrail 3's!!! I cannot decide. Atall. I ride very similar country roads to you, gravel scares me, but in reality i'm on bigger roads more than anything, but it still puts me off going for the road 6's for some reason, purely based on the fact country roads are more than 'just' road. Currently on stock Mitas E08's on my weestrom 650, they don't give me much confidence to be honest. Germany trip next week. Tyre's getting fitted Tuesday. Still not ordered. HELP! Awesome videos man, really your presentation is awesome and your laugh gets me every time, just makes you wanna get out on the bike.
@SamVBikes
@SamVBikes Жыл бұрын
Hahaha sorry!! Very good question! The Conti's didn't work incredibly well for the mid-corner gravel situations although better than just road tyres. I'd suggest the Anakee Adventure out of that lot - the are very marginally worse in wet weather than a Road 6, but have the grip in the slightly loose stuff. Plus they look cool. I've got them on my bike at the moment, and my mate has them on his Africa Twin and his riding has transformed. SO much more confidence. I do only get around 4k miles from a rear though. Also make sure you get the Anakee Adventures, not the Anakee 3 or other varients. They were nicknamed the Panickee 3 for a reason! Hope that helps and thanks for watching!!

@@SamVBikes I wish I checked this sooner... Your comment: 14:54. My order confirmation for ContiTA3's: 14:57 Came back here, read your comment! Typical. I'm sure I wont be disappointed though. Thanks so much for getting back to me on the feedback for the Anakee's - it was a tough decision to make. I think they just resemble my Mitas E08's a bit too much, so I wanted something slightly more roady and smooth...and different. That coupled with the fact that it sounds like the Conti's will last a tad longer than the Michelins. With that said, had I read your comment first, i'd probably have ordered the Anakee's instead! Haha...have been debating it for a while now. I simply just want a confidence inspiring tyre that's also good in the wet/gravel mid corner. Awesome channel bro, your riding videos are amazing, fun and easy. Great stuff.

@AlexSpetz hahaha damn!!! You won't be disappointed in the TA3s though, I've never ridden my bike harder than on those tyres. They are super confidence inspiring. They can slip a touch in the wet but only when you're pushing it!

Ohhh Sunday bedtime again...! Tire talk gets rid of the Mrs, so I owe you one 😂! I run PR5/6's on my SAS and torn between them and the Bridgestone BT023's on previous steeds. Both stable when putting the power down but probably prefer the PR's, had a set of Metzeler sportec M9's which were awesome when it was dry but twitchy in the wet. Neither are any good on loose stuff... Especially when it's in the middle of a corner 🤫😢
@SamVBikes

You're welcome! Haha too right... I don't think any tyres would be much cop mid-corner on gravel ha! Unless they were proper knobblies. The Road 5 and 6 are definitely the most confidence inspiring tyres I've used in the wet. These were fantastic on fast roads at the weekend though, really got the chicken strips scrubbed off!

That sounds about right for the rear! The front lasted about 6k km longer so I got 2 rears to one front pretty much. I got over 18k kms from a set of Road 5s on my Tracer 700 so I assume its just the bike power!

Been waiting for this video to drop.Ive had the sport attack and both versions of the race attacks on varied sportsbikes 600,750,900 & 1000cc bikes My go to brand, confidence with them is the same dry or very very wet.never have to slow down for rain. Single compound,so no horrible bands, good feeling from the carcass. The "Trail" description is misleading imo. I would say their more orientated towards people who ride trail/adventure bikes but want the grip, stability, confidence and wet weather control. The more they wear the better they get. I would put em on if/when i get my next bike.just by going off my previous experience of continental. Thats mar two penneth which is worth less than a spent stamp. Don't take mar word probably someone with more than my nearly 30yrs riding bikes knows better. End of the day tyres are your first form of suspension,you need to feel and have confidence.very personal thing,tyres come in all different flavours.just find the one you prefer. Keep up the stella work sam I needed my fix of your laughter 👍

Nothing about the tread pattern on the Trailattack suggests off-road capability to me, I see it a bit more with the Avon Trailriders which are only supposed to be 90/10! I think you're straight into TKC80 or AX41 territory as soon as you're dealing with mud tbh.
@SamVBikes

Yeah exactly! There is slightly more tread depth but I doubt there is much that will give much in the way off off road grip! And definitely agree on the mud! It has to be a knobbly on anything loose

HI Sam, I'm amazed at your tyre munching on your SAS, I'm still with the original Mitas which are fine as I no longer do trail or wet riding if I can help it...... however, prior to my SAS purchase I had a H-D Pan Am S - bar for its hideous issues now seemingly resolved, it was a stunning bike, very close in performance etc, etc and had Michelin Anekee road tyres which were perfectly capable on light trails....I'm sure I'll be changing to them when the day arrives, but Ive still got a few k to go..... ride safe.

So out of all the tires you have used. What is your favorite all rounder? I ride the roads mostly. And come from sportbikes. But still want gravel road capability.
@SamVBikes
@SamVBikes 11 ай бұрын
Oddly, I've moved further and further away from all-rounders. There's not one tyre that is good enough off road, while still being properly capable on road, so I've started leaning toward full road tyres and when I want off road, fitting knobbiles. Anything in between seems compromised heavily on one side or both. However, I'm currently running the Michelin Anakee Adventures, which are one of the closest to that all-rounder. They handle really well on the road, not quite as good as a full road tyre, and they will handle gravel trails well enough but anything more serious than that (mud/wet grass etc), they get out of their depth very quickly. Same kind of story with something like the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR. These contis were one of my favourite fast riding tyre for the road, but using them any further than gravel trails would find you on your ass pretty rapidly!

For me the Contis leave nothing to desire. Coming from the crappy Mitas, everything across the board has improved. I rode a few kilometers of old military gravel roads in the West Alps last year and they work just fine in dry conditions. Wet or smeary natural surface: beware! On the road they are perfectly reliable, wet or dry. The front could be a little sharper (I don't know if that's possible at all), but on the other hand they have nice internal damping, which makes the ride smooth. The handle bar shimmy I experienced with the Mitas is gone. Also, they do not have to be hot to work well, which is THE problem with the Mitas.

Too right! Mind you, I think I'd have more confidence if I sprayed my contis with oil over those stock Mitas 😂 I really put them to the test on fast roads yesterday and they handled incredibly well!
