These are naturally-occurring rocks that contain a lot of iron. This type of rock is called iron ore. Iron ore is one of the fundamental raw materials for steelmaking. These rocks will be crushed into smaller and smaller pieces and eventually shipped to a steel mill where they will be smelted into iron. The iron will then be converted into steel in a subsequent process.
