@@zombiecupcake.8485 If the system breaks, the game is tied to it. Years after the company stops supporting the system, you won't be able to get the game again, but with physical it's still out there where it can be bought again. Good example, I never got to play the P.T. Demo. The only way I can ever own it, is to buy a whole system that already has it on it. Now in contrast to another game/demo, Christmas NiGHTS was on a physical disc, I was able to buy it 20 years after it was released, way after the companies stopped supporting the Sega Saturn. So yeah, there is a big reason why everyone is obsessed with physical releases. A little foresight will tell you why.

Am I seeing this right? There are a few "doubles" in this trailer...different versions of the same game? In fact I believe there are 3 versions of the 1st Contra. And no Contra 4. 😕

It'll be hard to do Contra 4 given it used the DS's two screens for vertical space. It's not impossible, but it would be very limiting on the Switch's single screen.

I guess the best way is to have the player rotate the screen 90 degrees in tabletop mode. TV mode is probably gonna look OK if the TV is big enough.

Well, Contra Force was never actually a Contra game. They changed the name for the US version.

There should be more. I don't mind having different regional variants and ports of Contra on a collection, but that is the lion's share of the collection. Where's Rebirth? The MSX port? Shattered Soldier? Neo Contra?

ShaggyTurtleStudios Yeah, it’s kinda lame. There seem to be two to three versions of both the original Contra and Contra III The Alien Wars. They could have just taken the later games to reach the ten games. They aren’t nearly as classic and as good, but at least you don’t have to cheat to get a nice ten on the front of the cover.

I don’t know what sort of emulation and rights management this would’ve required. But if it was possible, I’d have liked to see Shattered Soldier, Neo Contra, Contra ReBirth, and Hard Corps:Uprising. But two of those would require PS2 Emulation, I don’t know what they’d need for Renirth and Hard Corps was developed by arcsys. So I’m assuming there’s some sort of rights involved to rerelease that. This is still a cool collection. But it’s more accurate to say it includes ten “titles” rather then “ten games”. And any of those look more appealing then Rogue Corps.

A good collection. Now if only all the games were each one different game and not containing different ports of the same game (I could live without the Probotector games, which are basically PAL-friendly reskins of Contra III and Contra Hard Corps, and the many ports of the first game). If I had a choice of what to replace them with, I'd choose Contra Force, Contra ReBirth, and even Hard Corps Uprising.
