I took contrave for my wedding day. I lost 30lbs in 3 months! NO exercise didn't have time for all that lol. It helped my cravings and portions! I only stopped after my wedding because I began to have hair thinning...but a friend of mine took it and didn't have any problems at all. So like any product everybody's body is different so you just have to try it, monitor yourself, and decide.

I’ve been successful for 7 months now on Contrave. WARNING!!! Do not drink alcohol!! I had a margarita on my birthday. The only drink I’ve had since I started the meds and I was hungover for 2 days. More than a hangover. Like full on sick. One!!! One margarita. Not happening again. Other than that, starting Contrave is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

I have been using it for 5 months so far and I love it. He is very spot on about the drug helping you with emotional eating and cravings. I feel normal for once since using this medication. To have the ability to eat like a normal person feels soo good. I used to binge eat on sweets and junk food. Ive noticed that since using this medication, I crave healthier options and find myself eating only when my body needs to. Luckily for me no bad side effects.

I started Contrave on October 2nd and I have lost a total of 26lbs in 24 days. I had REALLLLLLY strong nausea, and looking or smelling food literally made me gag. It repulsed me. On week 2 I had one big scare in my blood pressure. I got a busting headache to the point of thinking I was about too have a stroke. I took my bp and it was 191/106 pulse 113. I took 2 tylenol and when that kicked in I retook it and it was 178/103. Still high but it was coming down. I stuck with it and i now monitor my bp regularly. It's been stay at 126/73 ish now. I suffer with food addiction, ADHD, CPTSD and B.E.D. and it has really helped in all aspects.

1.5 months in and I've gone from 19st 6lbs (272lbs) to 17st 5lbs (243lbs)! I'm 6ft 5. This treatment really does work and for me, there haven't been any major side effects. Maybe a bit of nausea and irritability occasionally. Never in a million years could I have kept up this level of dieting without the treatment. My blood pressure has also dropped to a healthy level in this time, which has been a relief! For anyone experiencing headaches, it is very important to continue to drink enough water. There is a fair amount of water in some foods and so by eating less, you need to account for this by drinking a bit more.

I've been on it for 3 weeks now and I definitely see a difference. I no longer just snack throughout the day. Almost no cravings! And I also dont eat as much. EX: I've noticed I've gotten the same amount of food that I normally have gotten, but now I only eat about half of it. Or only get one plate rather than seconds. I do feel full so I dont feel like I'm starving myself. I have lost 11 pounds so far and I also have been more active at the gym! (Also, if for some reason I do crave food, I've gotten much healthier snacks) hope this helps! I'm excited to see my results in a few months! Ps: no headache, vomiting, or seizures. I have had some nausea but not severe. And I have had some constipation. But with miralax it has helped.

I took my first dose last night and woke up this morning NOT thinking about food for the first time in a year. About 2 hours ago I picked up my normal breakfast and it is still sitting there untouched. This is just what I needed. The only issue is the cost since my insurance doesn’t cover it. I'm at the last day of my third week. Dry mouth, constipation and headaches are the side effects I'm dealing with. Headaches are constant and very hard to put up with. I do notice that I crave food less. If the headaches go away in the next week or so, I will be much happier.

I actually had to quit contrave towards the end of my fifth week. Four or five side effects, headaches being by far the worst. Pain to the point of tears. It took almost a whole week off this medicine for the pain to stop. Too bad, because it definitely was working .

This is my experience with Contrave. From November 2023 to June 2024, I lost a total of 100 pounds in 7 months with Contrave. I should mention that after 3 months I had lost 30 pounds just with Contrave, but I had reached a plateau, and since I'm not very athletic, I turned to 18/6 intermittent fasting. So it was by combining Contrave and 18/6 intermittent fasting that I managed to lose my 100 pounds. I went from 350 pounds to 250 pounds in 7 months. And for those who are wondering, well no I don't have any excess skin hanging down. For my part I must say that the side effects were quite strong, so much so that I wondered if I should stop taking Contrave. The side effects I had are very strong hot flashes (2 to 3 times a day), nausea of moderate intensity 2 to 3 times a day (but never to the point of vomiting), actually, thanks to nausea, that’s the reason I was able to reduced my portions at meals (I went from eating two portions per meal to 1 portion and it was decreased from week to week, and now I am content with half a portion at meals. I also had confusion a few times, nothing serious but intense enough to worry me. After 3 or 4 months the side effects diminished and some completely stopped. I can understand people who stop their treatment because they cannot cope with the side effects. But the side effects are not the same for everyone as well as their intensity, it varies from one person to another. Bonus in addition to losing weight, I lost the taste for drinking coffee and smoking marijuana. As well as cravings for sugar and junk food. Since I don’t drink alcohol I can’t say that I lost the taste for it.

I've been taking Contrave for 3wks now and I've lost 6 lbs so far. It took away my desire to snack on unhealthy foods. I actually want to eat a lot of fresh fruit now whereas before I only ate bananas and occasionally ate other fruits. I've always been one to stay up and watch late night tv, but now I'm getting more rest because I don't want to stay up late anymore. But on the down side, I am experiencing the ringing in my ears 😔. The pharmacist did make me aware that it was a side affect. It's not painful it comes and goes, but it is annoying. Hopefully I can continue taking it until my follow-up with my Doctor in November.

May 2023 I started at 194 pounds. And now November 2023 I am at 179. When I started it yes I had the nauseous feeling. As the other comments said it is true because I realized also lots of water helps. I have not been having the urge to drink on this medication as well as smoke. When I do drink like going out with friends it’s less. It’s like it curves the liquor and the drinking but also the food. I still eat what I want but way less. It makes me full quickly. For example I had a chicken sandwich I could barely finish it. Normally I could eat a chicken sandwich, nuggets, small fries and then be full. I have been on it for 7 months to be exact. I only take one pill a day because of how much it curves my appetite but everyone is different. I do try to be more active as well with it. Not much maybe 30-50 minutes of a walk at least 2-3x a week. For me that’s all I did differently.

You will find after a week or so, all desire for caffeine, sweets etc will go. It won’t suppress your appetite,if you’re looking for that effect.

Was on it for 2 weeks. it felt great! No more cravings, actually looked forward to going to sleep, would wake up feeling like I actually slept, had lots of energy. Then came the blood work; my liver enzymes were pretty high, so I had to stop taking it. Now I'm back to not really sleeping, low energy during the day, and just feel like crap, like before. Hopefully, I can start taking something else that won't cause potential liver damage. I have an update: I started taking Cymbalta (generic for duloxetine). It is used to help treat anxiety and depression and it can also be used in people who suffer from chronic pain. It can cause dizziness, dry mouth, upset stomach, insomnia, and some other side effects. I have only been on it for a little less than a week, so I am still getting used to taking it. The first couple days I felt dizzy and sick to my stomach as soon as it started kicking in. This morning, I woke up super early and haven't been able to go back to sleep. I'm hoping that I sleep better going forward. I haven't dealt with the dizziness or feeling sick today (March 14, 2023). It may be that I'm already getting more accustomed to the medication.

Well I’m a bit scared to even try it! I’ve taken Wellbutrin before for my anxiety and depression and can’t really remember why I stopped taking it, I think it was the constant headaches. I react strongly to most medications in the sense I almost ALWAYS have some side effect, usually it’s always a headache and nausea. So I’m always hesitant to take new medications but my therapist recommended this to me as I suffer from food addiction, B.E.D and lack of self control with food and embarrassing to admit but I end up thinking about food a lot. So Since she mentioned it I’ve been researching like crazy and came on KZbin to see how it’s been for some people and the side effects are scaring me away from it as again I react to most side effects listed in most medications and I struggle with headaches/migraines anyways sooo we’ll see I guess, will definitely run it by my doctor…

I just received my Contrave. I am a bit nervous. I guess if my doctor, who is a new doctor to me, thinks this will help but I am very concerned about possible side effects. I will be taking my first pill in moments. My thing is that I work at home and if I should happen to have a major side effect of some sort, there will be no one here to help me. I am 57, 240 pounds at 5'4. I have always had great A1C's and I am not diabetic. I am also not an emotional eater. I am just looking for something to help me get rid of what I already have on me. I would like an appetite suppressant. However, I do have a demanding sedentary job that does not allow for alot of exercise. I am able to walk my dog in the morning but its also getting very cold. My main concern is my HBP (currently controlled with medication) and any possibility for a heart attack. I don't want to start having suicidal thoughts or have a seizure either. Like I said, there is no one with me during my work week. Any advice?

I just have a week or so but the effects were immediate. I just stop to eat or drink at night, having no desire to do that. So it occurs to me that an intermittent diet is the way to go. Avoid Keto, is not a good fit with Comtrave as my doctor states. Only side effects so far is feeling a dry mouth, and certainly a change of mood, like a soft Xanax. That is curious I expected it would act like an stimulant.

My first pill taking contrave and I ended up in the hospital almost died I take other meds and one which was an opiate had the worst reaction within 15 minutes I knew I was in trouble I called my daughter to come over she was there within 3 minutes by that time I was already having somewhat seizures in my body she called 911 and they came and took me away even thou I had not taken any opiates that day it still sent my body in horrible shock. I waited a week and tried again this time with nothing in my system and no reaction at all. No headaches nothing its like Im taking a placebo pill but I no longer have cravings its been a week and I noticed I am no longer dreaming of food. I feel that if I lose the weight than I will no longer have to take pain medication since its mostly being overweight that's causing the pain.

I take them both in the am and just Naltrexone in the pm. The Wellbutrin is extended release. Minimal side effects, headache and foggy brain the first week with some stomach pain for the first three days. It all resolved in about a week. Naltrexone dose started slowly then worked up. First week; no side effects, not even a bit. Frankly I wouldn't have even noticed I was taking pills, but then I noticed that I can do intermittent fasting really easily now. I basically only eat when the stomach gets growly enough with its demands, but there's no "I feel like eating now", or "eat to stop feeling like shit". The dosage will increase on 2nd week, up to 4 pills on week 4 (as prescribed by my doctor). I occasionally get the "keto tingles", i.e. the feeling of my fat burning (a familiar sensation from back when I successfully lost some weight with that method), even though I'm not trying to eat low carb meals. Morning weight ~1kg less than when I started, for the record. Had to pay for the medication out of my own pocket, but I feel like I'm going to actually save up money for eating that much less. Feel free to press me for updates, lest I forget about this video.

I don't know if you found help because it was so so hard for me to figure out something, but once I got the prescription for it from my doctor, I found out it was going to be about 1000 dollars, and girl I can't afford that, I got chitlens, but dangit I also wanted to lose weight. Anywho long story short, if you get a script, look up ridgeway pharmacy and have them contact your doctor to transfer your script. It goes from 1000+ to 120 ish, like hellllasss cheaper. And it's the same shit 🤷🏽‍♀️
