@ 13:50 you begin to speak about the driver installation for the TX. I follow the step by step but when it comes to updating the driver, i do not have one available. In the upgrade tools folder, then Driver, all i have available is an empty x64 and x86 folders. I have downloaded several times and even tried an earlier version of the upgrade tool. Any help is appreciated sir.

Incredible and awesome how far affordable transmitters have come since then, hey? I got a Devo10 and did the 4-in-1 mod with DeviationTx firmware June of 2016 because there were just NO other options out there (that I was aware of) that could do anything even remotely close to what DeviationTx could do. I know it's time to look seriously at an upgrade to a current Tx, but for now my daily driver is still my modified and flashed Devo10 and it hasn't let me down yet. :)

Hi Andy, I’m new to the RACING world., but not new to drones. I’ve had a number of different GPPS hobby drones, including the DJI consumer drones, and still own a few of the DJI ones. I’ve decided to try out the racing FPV world, but I find it a bit overwhelming. To start me off, I purchased the Walkera F210 with the Devo 7 Transmitter. I have a very simple question; what receivers do I need for me to connect to other racing drones with the Devo transmitter? Also, which universal receiver do you recommend for connecting to most of the small and mid size racing quads like the F210? Many thanks, Sam

Yessir, thanks Alan. I ended up buying the Usmile 3-in-1 module the same time I ordered the Devo 7E. The 7E arrived a couple days ago and I had no problems installing Deviation on it. I have a Devo 7 and I was wondering I recently bought a eachine eb185 quad. And it uses DSM, ppm. Ibus. And if I'm correct the Devo seven is PWM and the squad has to have some type of connector to get it to read the receiver. Would I be able to use the Devo seven controller and binded with a receiver that is PPM/ibus so that the quad copter reads the receiver Will the Devo seven bind with any receiver as they say it will?

Hi Andy, I have a real problem. I built a Q450 X type Quadcopter, but i don't seem to be able to power any reciever i put on it. I can get all esc's and motors working using the open pilot software(i tried two different cc3d's) Also i got both recievers working seperately with a servo. Friends think there isn't enough power getting to the reciever. I used a multimeter to measure voltage on the cc3d pins where the esc's attach, and also measured current actually from the reciever pins, got measurements on both, but haven't a clue what i'm doing lol. it's such a pity, as it's completely built, i even bought two flysky transmitters!

I have a divo 7 that came with my rodeo 110. I find it's not to hard to fly out of range while still having video reception. do you think there is something wrong with it or is that just the way it is? I don't think there is any way to range test it by reducing it's output, only by flying it out of range which seems to be 3 or 4 hundred yards in an open field. I have seen a spectrum go over a mile, shouldn't the devo 7 do the same?

I have an AR 2.0 drone that I want to fly with an RC. Purchase stock DEVO 7E. Have upgraded firmware to Deviation 5.0 first, but did not copy the files over via USB because I received a Hack set of files from the person I purchase the RX from. It comes with similar folder and a tx.ini file like Deviation. I was instructed to use the USB and copy those over to the Devo after formatting. When I try to boot up the DEVO 7E screen comes up with a Protocol Mismatch 8101fc6c and 0801f560. Any ideas? Would like to communicate with you about it if you have any thoughts on how to correct this. Many thanks in advance

Great video Andy! You always hit the marks. I've done the diode mod, removing the SMD diode from the stock module and replacing it with a teeny tiny jumper wire and yeah it's fiddly. I've added the additional modules, antenna connectors and added the switches too, though I have to admit that I'll have to grow into the additional capabilities the switches bring. I even made the mistake of using an old diagram for my A7105 module and had to re-do it using the same online resources you used. Gotta admit to my goof but I re-worked it and it's great now! Adding the hardware was the easy part for me as I've been a hardware hacker for quite a while and have soldered for decades. (and re-soldered sometimes too DOH!) I have KZbinr Frequent Flyer RC to thank for planting the seeds and helping me with the Deviation software on my Devo 7e. I love the JST connector for use with the amp and I believe I will be stealing that idea! (TYVM) I may use a relay to slave it to the power switch and possibly a fuse for a little protection as I simply cannot resist over-complicating things. (wanna-be engineer I guess) I flew at an RC flying field yesterday and showing up with a modded Devo 7e seemed to help quite a bit as a conversation piece. Hard not to notice 3 antennas I guess. LOL I'm too long winded sorry.

+Michael Thompson Hey Michael thanks for your comment. Welcome to the vip club LOL. I just joined it my self this weekend with the NRF module. I actually installed it a month a go but I just got error of missing module, I had to order another one to be sure it was not the module the problem. It was the modules problem and with the new one didn't get the error. maybe the first one was DOA or I killed it trying to take out the pins it comes with. For the new one I didn't take the pins so I could test my soldering installation and be sure the new module was working. Now I want to add the A7105 chip and I was trying to fin information about how to connect the new antenna to it instead the one it comes with so happy to see you show this. But is th length of the antenna important? I thinks so right? or not? Second question why you added the wifi booster? it will amplify only the main module? but why you need it? Thanks for this video it will help many people.

@paulgriffitts73038 жыл бұрын
+magaiver yes you can actually buy modules for the taranis and you just plug it into the panel on the back. If you turn over your taranis there is a panel like a battery door just open that up and you can plug in the module there. It will make the FrSky protocol unusable until you remove the module. You can buy modules for pretty much any frequency and plug it in. BUT....there is some latency which is never good but its not crippling, but when racing or flying acro it might cause an issue here and there but i'm sure you won't notice it most of the time.

The mods I found no issue with but after 2 years I still can't confidently program the advanced mixers and it's always a total hassle if the simple mode isn't enough such as dji 3 way switch etc. It's shame you grabbed the 7e though, I get it's a bargain and accessible for many but the advanced mixers are laid out very differently to the full size 8s and 12s and i'd kill for some clear tutorials on that from you.
@AndyRCchannel9 жыл бұрын
I don't really see the devo range used for the bigger aircraft requiring advanced mixes. I mainly hope to use it on rtf aircraft. what sort of mixer are you trying to get? cheers
@AndyRCchannel9 жыл бұрын
ah you mean like three position switches for flight modes?
@MicroRCFiend9 жыл бұрын
Yes mainly but confident control of whatever is needed as it's as powerful as opentx on a Taranis. I don't fly anything bigger than a 450 heli and mainly fly sub 150 size or quads with 5 to 8" props.

ah cool I see

AndyRC There was a poll recently by the deviation crew asking what direction to take the 7e in too. It's kinda run out of memory they added so much so it must be dropped or a different fork be made which is more likely. 8S, 10 and 12s have plenty scope for adding features, protocols etc. It's still a bargain but i'd want to know this if I was thinking about buying a deviation compatible tx

I just spent about 3 hours trying to get this to work and I can't get it to work for some reason. Basically what keeps happening is when I try to install the new firmware, the software won't let me install it. Half the time it doesn't display anything as connected, then after fiddling around trying to get the driver for the tx to install, it will finally show up. Then the software just freezes. I tried pretty much every version of the firmware and Dfuse I could find, and all of them do the same thing. I will probably have to try it on a different computer and see if something is off, I am running Windows 10 so maybe that's the issue. I fiddled with it a bit more and it keeps giving me the message "unable to get DFU Descriptor.... Bad firmware"
@AndyRCchannel8 жыл бұрын
I did this using windows ten no problems. make sure the USB lead is OK and also ensure the driver was installed the same as this video. even the smallest step missed can cause the entire thing not to work. its quite a challenge this mod :-( hang in there u will get it. its pretty hard to brick this one

Thanks Andy for a very exact mod account. You're right its tricky, but well worth not having to carry around numerous TX's :) I do have a slight problem when using the A7105 module though, both my hubsan & U807 seem to have 'lazy' motors? I've checked the config etc which is correct, any ideas mate? TIA
@AndyRCchannel8 жыл бұрын
+Trevor Crouch what do you mean by lazy motors? cheers
@trevorcrouch93568 жыл бұрын
+AndyRC thanks for the resopnse - when I start to accelerate only 2 of the motors spin, when I pitch forward/back left or right the other motors cut in, but not when the gyro is set on a flat surface and all the motors 'should' spin simultaneously (ps they do using with the original tx)
@AndyRCchannel8 жыл бұрын
I was going to say thats a problem with the copters not the TX have you treid to re calibrate the gyros?

+AndyRC turned TX then hubsanX4 & U807 and both binded fine and the motors ran correctly, very odd. Can only presume theTX or RC boards got confused somehow? One last question if i may, when it says channel 5 = leds or channel 6 = flip, where are these 'channels' on the Devo 7e please?

cool video. i bought a tranis.. maybe i should of went this way. i know it seems like everyone wants the 6s also seems walker is no longer making it? even tho you can still find a couple on line but damn they seem pretty spendy for what you get with out the hack. i guess supply and demand thing if they are no longer made.. which i am not positive. anyhow, i personally would have to go with a different model if i wanted to try one of these ( even tho i do have a tranais, having one of these that can do so many protocols could be handy and looks like a 8s is about 139.00 not to expensive ).. as i have large hands. so the 6s would be very uncomfortable. then iv read the 8s would be next.. but why would you not go with a 12 Chanel mod. unless the 8s is the only one with a touch screen monitor. i love open source.. even tho im knew RC iv never heard of walker before a while ago... but seems a lot of toy brands use there protocol. for all i know walker could be major in the Asian market etc.. anyhow thank you. im gonna be keeping a eye out for a cheap one.. if i can i will go from there.

AndyRC thank that does make more sense now. i hope to start on a 150mm diatone frame soon. (healing from a recent hospital visits ) the parts are on my desk making funny faces at me). I originally bought a 130mm insect carbon frame. but i think i will go with the 150mm carbon Diatone frame using the same 1104/10A DYS ESC power pack, connected too a cc3d mini, and a micro RMRC camera. ( this thing is smaller than a US dime. not sure what that would be over on your side of the pond. ) and then smallest RX the orange satellite job its about the size of your finger index finger nail, smaller and weighs less than a JR ESC plastic connector, and the boscam mini 200mw 32ch VTX, anyhow the 130mm insect frame looks cool and all but its not all that smaller than the 150mm when you stack them on top of each others frame to compare.. I figure the extra space will come in handy.. the one thing im not sure about tho is what battery to use. im thinking 2s 600mah maybe? this will be my biggest Chanel yet since i have large hands.. anyhow, im just running my mouth.. sorry for rambling on.. time for bed i guess. good night, night!
@AndyRCchannel8 жыл бұрын
+Chris c I'm not sure how it will perform on a 2s what are the ESC and motors rated to? most people are using 3s and 4s on these mini racers
