Dude this is so much better than others I have seen. I wish I had seen your vid first instead of messing with the multimodule. It has been nothing but a pain and your method is far better. I'm waiting for stuff from banggood so I can do your mod. Thanks dude!

+Chris Stolle Hope everything works out for you. Just remember you can only have a max of 2 modules with this method. you need the multi-module for 3 or more.

I bricked my Devo 10!! Followed these directions and like you I had done a previous 7e so when we come to 23:17 into video and you loaded the 7edfu I followed "dooh". After I disconnected and switched on - nothing ..dead... bricked. After rcgroups search I followed instructions to remove battery, turn radio on and off, wait 10mins before reinsert battery then switch on straight into dfu mode I regained software update screen RELIEF .... I then used the appropriate devo10 dfu file . Alls sweet now and I'm deviated.

GREAT video. You explain things very clearly, you do things in systematic, step-by-step order, and you answered a lot of questions I had since learning about Deviation etc. Thanks very much for the time you spent sharing your knowledge. I do have one question though which is probably obvious for most people but somehow I never seem to find a firm answer. I keep reading/hearing that without doing the multi-module mod. In fact, I see in a reply you wrote to Chris Stolle a couple weeks ago, you said "Just remember you can have a max of 2 modules with this method" But what I'm not clear on is if you (and others) mean 2 ADDITIONAL modules, or 2 total modules. In your video, after placing the perf board, the NRF, and the A7105 modules in their positions, you didn't show the complete back of the unit right before putting the cover back on. So I'm confused as to whether you put the CYRF module back in AND it's still functional, or was the CYRF module actually removed? In other words, the mod you did in this video...was the result at the end of your video that you had THREE working modules that could be enabled on-demand from the firmware: (1) CYRF, (2) NRF, (3) A7105? Or did you only have TWO working modules (with the CYRF actually removed or disabled): (1) NRF, (2) A7105?
@KenVersus
@KenVersus 8 жыл бұрын
+Steve Gergetz Hi, there are signal lines (TMS/TCK) on the Devo PCB to add 2 additional modules. The A7105 and NRF are additional modules. So if you count the already installed CYRF chip, it would be 3. The CYRF module is only removed temporarily to have access to the connections for soldering. Hope it clears it up.

It's been a while since I did that video. But I recall picking just one of the VDD. also there are newer 4in1 one modules that are simpler to install in a devo10. Maybe take a look at that.

I have a question maybe you can answer. I have the DEVO 10 and i built a RC Lawn mower from an old zero turn i had. i used the devo and a receiver i had out of an old drone to control the lawn mower. you can see it on my channel. the programming took me a while to get correct on the transmitter and everything has been working fine, except for the other day i went to home depot and left the transmitter sitting outside. a light rain came through and got it wet. the transmitter still comes on everything works as it should but.. the screen doesn't show any information. it lights up but thats it no information is displayed. i have a DEVO 12e that i could use in place of the DEVO 10 but the problem is i dont know how to set it up the exact way as the devo 10. Is there anyway to get the Configuration off the devo 10 and move to the devo 12e? thanks for any help. and also to get into usb mode do i have to flash the firmware or will it work stock? and if i do flash it like in the video does it reset everything and i loose all the configurations i already have on the devo 10?

You need a hex key to remove the screw on the knob then if I recall you need a flathead to remove the pot from the holes. Not sure if my memory is right.

There is 3 in one module now sold at banggood for this and you can have the third that you re missing there. Where you got the white antennas? or you painted the black ones? How are the gimbals of the 10 compared to the 7e and the spektum? I have the spektrum dx6 and the devo 7e, I prefer the gimbals of the dx6 because they have a little more resistance, the 7e feels more soft. Ho much is the weight of the 10?
@KenVersus
@KenVersus 8 жыл бұрын
+Multirotor Go Yes there is a 4in1 at BG now but it's still pretty new. I don't have anythign that uses the CC2500 module so I'll stick with this for a bit. I got the white antenna's from eBay. I think the gimbals are better on DX6i. Not sure about weight but the 10 is a bit on the heavy side.
@TheStickyBusiness
@TheStickyBusiness 8 жыл бұрын
kenVersus heavier then DX6i? do you feel 10 has a little bit more resolution then 7e?
@KenVersus
@KenVersus 8 жыл бұрын
+Multirotor Go I think the 10 has the same resolution as the 7e but just a bigger screen. The 10's backlight is way to bright even at the lowest setting. I preferred the 7e's screen even though it's smaller. Yes the 10 will be heavier than the DX6i. The 10 uses 8xAA batteries vs 4xAA of the DX6i. But in terms of features the 10 wins. I have since gotten rid of the DX6i.

Devo 10 vs Devo 7e? How does each feel in your hand? In terms of features is the cost of the 10 worth it to get over the 7e? Thanks.
@KenVersus
@KenVersus 8 жыл бұрын
+NELICOPTER I like both. It's a tough one but I ended up selling my 7e and keeping only the 10. The 7e feels nice and portable. The 10 is bulky but has more switches. I think something like the 6s is a good compromise but it's expensive.
@rcpilot4970
@rcpilot4970 8 жыл бұрын
Do you run a Lipo instead of the AA cells? That would help make it feel less bulky. I've basically decided on the Devo 10. I plan to work in a hobby shop where appearance is everything as well. Thanks for your help.

Could you tell me what kind of range you are getting with these new transmitters?
@KenVersus
@KenVersus 9 жыл бұрын
+Dark Shadow I have't done any range testing with them. I don't have any exact distances to give you unfortunately. The 7E has the shortest range. I often lose signal if I fly my quad out too far at the park. The 10, I can pretty much fly until I can't see it. Then it crashes because I can't see it, not cause of range. :) Devo 7E is 15mW, and the Devo 10 is 150mW. Also depends on the aircraft too.
@DarkShad03
@DarkShad03 9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for coming back to me so quickly. I was referring to the additional secondary protocols you installed inside your devo10. Do you get similar distances, or do you only recommend it for indoor use?
@KenVersus
@KenVersus 9 жыл бұрын
+Dark Shadow With both the 7E/10, if you use external antennas, you'd get the same decent outdoor range. The A7105 chip claims to go 500m... more like 100m I'm estimating. Hope that helps. Probably not for FPV. I'd go with a Taranis for that.

+pedro torres you'll have to create a new setting for it. And rebind. See of you can find someone who already has a file for it set up on the Deviationtx forums. If not you have to make one from scratch. For all my quads I've been able to download settings someone else made.

You video on installing the hardware is well done. Some people shield the NRF24L01 module and wonder if there is any noticeable benefit since the other modules are shielded. Have you done any range tests since doing the hardware upgrades? I am at a loss why Walkera does not offer at least the DEVO 7E and 10 with the hardware upgrade of these two popular RF modules as on the manufacture's side the cost of the extra wire and soldering with the RF modules is quite small but Walkera could tack on forty to fifty dollars to the price of the radio. I am also at a los as why the DEVO 10 is sometimes not shown as a current TX on Walkera's website... yet sometimes it comes up but no downloads for it..
@KenVersus
@KenVersus 8 жыл бұрын
+John F Hendry Hi, I have not done range tests since I'm just a park flier or living room mostly. And for that, they have exceeded my expectations. I agree, if Walkera made a plug in module system, they'd have a winner. Soldering stuff does scare people off a bit but with practice, it's not that tough. I only have high school electronics experience and if I recall, my soldering skills were just atrocious, but I have improved... a bit.
@JohnFHendry
@JohnFHendry 8 жыл бұрын
kenVersus LOL... I can get a good low resistance connection with a smooth short surface path but you wouldn't want to pay me by the hour. The main advantage IMO to Walkera offering TX's already with modules besides making a profit is eliminating people making mistakes (like removing the RF shielding) that can affect other people's equipment and therefore protect the hobby. Walkera is hard to figure out why and how they run their business and could never be my main radio of choice the way they drop the ball on past products and run their website where you can't even find mention of the DEVO 7E & where the DEVO 10 shows up sometimes... but not all the time and I have issues where their links are stolen and you get redirected. Had to get drivers from off their site... makes no sense to me why they don't support their current TX's..
@KenVersus
@KenVersus 8 жыл бұрын
+John F Hendry That too, if you don't know what you're doing, you can affect others' equipment. True their site sucks. I had to get their flashing tool from another site since I couldn't find it. If I did any sort of long range or needed reliability, I'd go with a FrSky Taranis. The walkera TX's are fine for bind & fly micro/minis.
@JohnFHendry
@JohnFHendry 8 жыл бұрын
+kenVersus Agree, some people swear by the DEVO line and it was ahead of the times with low cost telemetry but I got it for the micro scale. I'm still using Futaba on 72hz for my long range wood gliders I care about the most. Didn't get a 2.4TX until the DX9 came out and that was to fly a Nano QX. Hard to believe the performance you can get now since then out of 4 good 7mm brushed motors in the dark and hoping the DEVO has good range to take advantage of night distances with lights. Little buggas disappear in the day time;-) But afraid I 'm and getting spoiled and lazy using lights for orientation.
