If you're in a street fight situation, don't stop to try and control the attacker. When things get to the point where you have to grab the finger, break it. THEN you have control. Anyone who has broken a finger or a thumb knows that hand can't be used for anything. It's far too painful.

I agree I am now receiving some classes from a pressure points martial artist and dang when I saw the pressure points chart of arm I saw that dang some can immobilize the hand🥶

I just had a dream about a situation that I could have gotten out of with a finger break and a hook. The guy was grabbing onto my finger weakly bending it while threatening me, and he had a buddy right beside him. I let them think I was doing what they wanted and lead them into the crowd where at least they'll have to do whatever they're going to do infront of people, cameras, and my 6'5" backup that I let myself get separated from. Then I woke up and identified the reason for the loss of control in that situation. I gave him the drop by being in an overly crowded place, then secluding myself in a back hallway. I've never been to the bar in the dream before, and there was only one familiar person. Dreams like this force me to recognize my weaknesses and adapt.

I agree, but this wouldn’t be for an actual fight. This is to prevent a fight. But if I was in a fight, I agree with you if I happen to have this lock.

BTW, the throat and neck are the most vulnerable, exposed areas of the body for really hurting someone. A punch to the Adams apple, if it doesn't kill someone, they're out of the game. I don't care who they are. You're in a street fight, so kick, bite, claw, and break anything your attacker exposes. Don't feel bad about it. Survival and self preservation doesn't require permission or an apology.

Ultimately my goal is to avoid and evade fights, but if forced to defend I prefer it end on my terms. Which means ugly fight.

I can see how this would be very useful. I don’t think there are too many people who don’t feel vulnerable when their fingers are in someone else’s control. I knew a bouncer who would use this on bar fighters and it instantly changed their attitude from rage into yes sir, sorry sir, please don’t break my precious finger sir.

Good information .I live in a high-crime area and I'm 70 years old ,but in good shape. This is very painful when done right and the attacker will freeze up.

I know it's a long shot but, what would Happen if while you were breaking his finger he in the blink of an eye he retaliated with a BRUTAL AND BLINDING CHOP to your exposed Adam's Apple Literally Crushing it in with a Strike so fast that you NEVER SAW IT COMING?! 💚

if you commit get lucky and grab the finger, break it (keep in mind that could also send a fist to your face) and immediately move on to something else. because there are people out there that can fight through it, combined with the adrenal and endorphin rush its gonna be bad so you gotta shut them down. keep in mind they also aren't going to stand there and let you do it, if you miss or they pull there hand back (most likely outcome) it's gonna piss them off.

If you do this quickly AND correctly, it is highly effective. I’ve seen it in real world. this may not be the best against an experienced fighter, but for 99.99% of the street punks it will work if you’re good at it.

BS! show one on a non-compliant opponent that pulls their hand back. finger grabbing is good for getting out of holds, but should never be done as the opener.
