Control Arm Bushing Removal (Without Using Drill Bits or Fire)

It's easier than you think! Control bushing bushing replacement seems much scarier than it really is. Here's one method I used to remove the bushing from this Mitsubishi Delica L400 lower control arms at home.

I used a 20 ton HF press to R&R mine. Worked fine. The hole saw is a good idea though.

Press is always the preferred method. With the shape of these arm there's really no good way to access the bushings, or support the arm on a press for removal.

The easiest way to do it, wait until there is absolutely nothing left, they practically fall out on their own! (I didn't let mine wear out, they were that bad when I bought my Blazer)

Or I can whip out the cutting torch and be done in 60 seconds.

That's fine for those who own an oxy torch, and are ok breathing the smoke. My shop is a little attached garage... Explaining to my wife why all the windows are opened in the middle of winter, and where the fog war has come from.. isn't a very appealing idea.
