The person saying that isn't the developer it's the designer, they work in different capacities. The developer makes it and tests for bugs, resolves them, then passes it on to the design team. Then the design team tests it and asks for changes. If it were the developer saying that, it would be an excuse and them not doing their job; but since it's the designer that means it made it past the developers testing unnoticed and the design team thought it didn't take away from the game or narrative.

@@bplusstudios9031 Best part of the game? I'm surprised at how well received the maze was and how proud of the maze the devs sounded of it, considering I thought it was THE most disappointing part of the entire experience. You never get a chance to get lost in an actual, shifting maze and explore it. They turned what I thought would be the most interesting part of the game into a gameplay loop of enter room -> kill enemies -> enter next room. it looked decently pretty, but the gameplay was so boring and bland I became progressively more and more peeved at it as I got through it. Came out the other side and was just like seriously? that's it? I felt so much hype for what seemed to be a mysterious maze and was let down so hard. ...and if you don't get the key first, you're literally just locked to 2 rooms. There's never a real sense of exploration and getting lost or maze-like feel to the gameplay there. They could have done SO much there, generated various area loops with different entries and exits taking you through to another loop, etc. I really figured it was made the way it was because it was cut down for time (similar to the card puzzle that was dumbed down), but apparently that's not the case. Very disappointing..

When a dev says "We left that here intentionnally" it doesn't mean "We didn't want to fix it", it means "We knew about it but didn't get the time to fix it so we left it there" Sometimes fixing a bug can break other stuff in unexpected ways, so not fixing a very specific bug is sometimes the best way to deal with a bug. Of course, they don't want people to clip through walls, that's not intended. But the bugs allowing you to do so need so many variables to be in place that it doesn't matter if they are fixed or not, you probably have way more urgent stuff to do. By the time you get all your powers the game is an absolute buzz to play - it's still challenging all the way to the end, all of your powers are useful(unlike other games there are no pointless powers that just look flashy and that you never use), you have to improvise _all the time._ Just thinking about Control makes me feel like a smoker without a cigarette: every action game I've played since has felt limp by comparison. I'm sure you've already noticed it but you can now in the newest expansion, relive any boss fight and replay key moments like the ashtray maze

Speedrunners are the most dedicated players. They meed to play the game long enough to know ot like the back of their hands.

It's great to see this fascinating relationship between devs and "true optimisers" like speedrunners and professional gamers

Man I'd LOVE to see other Devs reacting to speed runs. That would be super interesting. Fingers crossed 🤞.

It's so cool when he just walks out into thin air, but he knows the game so well that he does it at the perfect moment when the game spawns the ground. She just walks out and the ground comes up under her foot. It looks badass!
