This is the sort of thing I started dreaming about in the 90's, when cell phones were getting tiny. Or smaller at least. Only had to wait 25 years for this stuff.

Looking to see if anone has figured out how to use Airstep for Amplitube 5, especially the looper. Thank you for sharing.
@benbush94 жыл бұрын
While the Boss adapters do work, both products DO come with USB to barrel power adapters. Look in the box, theres a little black box under where the pedal is that contains adapters. The Lite has just USB to barrel and the main Airstep has the USB to barrel, USB to USB-C, and a USB-C to USB dongle. You're welcome.

Thanks so much - just ordered the main one and wondered if this would be an issue as I'm not always using this at the studio. I also wondered if it was also rechargeable with that USB-C port. (Any idea?)

That is exactly what I’m looking for! It would be amazing to have a foot controller for the THR IIWLS series without having the amp connected to a device and with the app open all the time!

I was intrigued by this to replace the massive tank of a channel switcher that came with my 5150iii, then I heard the price for both units to do that, yikes. Still a cool piece of gear though, especially the DAW control, that’s pretty slick.
@AlecBourneMidiMadScientist4 жыл бұрын
In fact this is a hell of a lot of money for a product. A very worthwhile product yes, but ground breaking? There are a myriad of ways to do all this. Maybe if you’re looking to get into midi control it is a lovely splash, but this is a hell of a lot of hype. The form factor is cool, but an HXFX does this as a base unit ( and a lot more )... I’d have some very mixed opinions on the presentation. Sure every product does this at launch 🚀, ok this is the industry’s game at play once again. An overview and contrast is needed. Not controller x vs controller y, people can decide for themselves now but let’s celebrate the gear and it’s evolution with cool heads.

Yo Fluff, great review. Sincere question - why not use Logic Remote on your iPad to control Logic on your MacBook? Also, is it possible to use the Bluetooth function simultaneously with the “plugged in” functions without purchasing the Airstep Lite, do you know? Thanks for the review! I’m excited about the kind of things that XSONIC is producing lately.
@budgetguitarist4 жыл бұрын
I thought about that too. The big advantage I can see is that you can trigger this with your foot, which is not recommended for an iPad.

Thanks for this video. Does anyobody here knows if it's possible to store your programmed scenes (whether you did this with a software on a pc or with a dmx console/controler), and then transfert your programmed scenes on a usb key, and while you're on show, plug this key in a footswich or midi controler that allows it (just to get rid of the dmx controler or laptop) ? And then the footswich will only read the usb key to trigger your lights stuff ?

Controlling everything on my system with stomp box switches seems as irritating as working next to the old programmer dude that insists on his ancient Northgate Omnikey which really sounds like someone continually dumping ballbearings on a mirror all day while you're trying to get shit done - sure, noise cancelling headphones are generally great except the response time needs to be pretty awesome with fast high frequency transients like that and most can't filter that kind of clacking super well in an actual practical work environment. If I were to try to use this I would see ankle strain and shin splints as well as buying a LOT of replacement switches in my immediate future. I'll make you a snap on control surface for an industrial bluetooth keyboard/mouse/glide pad that you can run while you're on stage, maybe it will cost a buck to manufacture after the dies/molds are cut. HID is a generic driver so this isn't a performance device but it doesn't need to be with like 10 buttons or less on it and it makes your software support literally nonexistent; it works or it don't, that's that - there is some firmware maintenance, but it's basically a keymapping and disabling keys not used in the keyboard/mouse chip they decided to use for this, it's not worth creating a limited feature chip when you can just turn off features in existing, very cheap, silicon. Generic human interface drivers are also generally buggy as shit so get ready for that random bucket of fun at any moment. You get an estimated 300 hours of run time because it's essentially like the Jitterbug of controllers (yep, a dad/grandma reference lol) so not only do you get the run time of a BLE keyboard, you get the run time of one that only uses a few buttons every once in a while. I would say I wouldn't use this at all except I don't have a tool ready that ticks off the boxes in this niche, so, just like current music "data protocols" you try and live with what you get for the money they're asking if it's what you need to do. I would agree there is no other commercial alternative close to this product for this application right now, as it exists. Imogen Heap did an Ableton Live demonstration back in 2012 IIRC that showed a lot of integration of many control surfaces, including a Kinect, to basically be a symphony of one, live. It was very helpful in opening my mind to visualizing that basically everything, including our guitars/basses, are control surfaces. :-)
