Ivan, what a brilliant update, thank you. So many tips and ideas on treating plants with red spider mite infestation, very helpful indeed. Like you, I'm not one for using chemicals because of the potential harm to pollinators. Sometimes, I'll just let a plant be savaged by a pest and let the others continue to grow. I call them, sacraficial plants and hope that the pests stay away from other plants of the same species which I hope to get a harvest from. As you rightly point out, our changing weather conditions will also have an effect on pests. I recently lost three rows of direct sown Pak Choi seedlings to slugs. I started some more off in plug trays, so hopefully things will have changed by the time they are ready to go out and I'll get a harvest at some point. This is why I always sow more seeds than I really need, and if I end up with more than we can eat, then I give them away. Thank you once again, Paul

Good info! I've not got them, plenty other bugs though. This year I have leaf miner, it's really put me off sadly, ruined all my peas and some flowers but not much info out there about it. Next year I'm going to plant less and try and sort it.

I think you might have answered something there for me, I had a big problem with ants and black aphids on my runner beans earlier on in the season and I sprayed them a lot with a mixture of washing up liquid and a dash of vinegar, I think this may have put the pollinators off as you suggested as there are lots of flowers but not many beans yet
