I have gotta say, I think the combat was even better than you gave Control credit for. I have never seen telekinesis done as extraordinarily well as in this game. The levitation also feels damn great in combination with the dash move . It is damn near perfect except for the aiming bug which you mentioned. Let's face it, this combat on top of a lightsabre melee mechanic would be the ideal, dream-come-true scenario for a Star Wars game with jedis and blasters.
@b34k97 Жыл бұрын
Just started Control a few weeks back and I'm about halfway through now. Man is it good! The combat just feels so polished. There's enough enemy types, weapons, and abilities that you have to keep your strategy varied for success, yet you can fall back on some of your favorites (mine is definitely the telekinetic launch). Combine that with the real creepy atmosphere and this game is just a real winner.

I just got this game last week (on Steam, no EGS for me still) and I watched 4 reviews since then, wondering if everyone else thought it was as amazing as I did. And every single one of them mentions the "inner monologue." Except, it's not. If you pay attention to the story, Jesse is talking to Polaris, not herself. Now, yes, this is technically a thought inside her own head (i.e. she isn't verbalizing it aloud) however since it is a conversation with another character, it isn't a monologue. And if the VA didn't voice it aloud for us, there would be no way for us to know about this dialogue - which is absolutely what it is, dialogue, not a monologue. I'm not sure if I'm the only person alive who picked up on this or what. I've never played any previous Remedy game, so I'm getting the impression that in previous games it WAS a monologue and thus a bunch of reviewers are ASSUMING it's a monologue this time around.

I'm definitely getting a Quantum Break/Max Payne/Alan Wake vibe when it comes to Control, which isn't a bad thing, especially considering how much I enjoyed those titles. The voice acting is pretty good. Combat is satisfying (both the gunplay and the powers). Destructible environments are highly appreciated. The visuals look great. The story is enjoyable. I like the level design as well. The game's replayability is always a major plus. Sure, there are a few issues. However, they don't detract from the overall experience. Any game where you can play as Sally Spectra is a must buy, awesome choice for lead character!

My first playthrough was 29 hours. So it´s not that short.

Think I'll wait for a sale on this one. Only 12 hours of gameplay isn't promising and your video made it look like it's mostly just shooting galleries and not much else. And combat looks pretty questionable to me. But honestly this is why I love your reviews. You break down every facet and even though you give a recommendation, you give enough info for me to make my own decision. Keep up the good work. I really appreciate it.

Yeah, I generally try to base games on $1 per hour. If the game only has 12 hours of enjoyability then I'm not getting my money's worth. The game does seem fun and interesting. Also the combat looks ok but a little linear from this gameplay video, I will wait for a sale till it drops at least to the $30-$40 range and maybe I can explore everything in the game to make it worth it.
@BDG965 жыл бұрын
I felt the same way but it does have this exploration niche to it. If it helps everything done in combat is satisfying. You can tell there's room for dlc creativity.

Finally the review that actually matters to me - with this I shall decide whether this game is a buy or not.
@jimj785 жыл бұрын
I don't count on just one review. Most times it could be bias. I prefer the average on metacritic.
@Ink1295 жыл бұрын
@@jimj78 Definitely a good way to go - I've just always known my reviewers really well and ACG's tastes fall within my own at least 90% of the time.

Same except a couple of rts titles that's how i know i can rely on karak also if he's positive or negative on something he always has a well explained reason unlike most reviwers

Metacritic is rotten tomatoes for video games. Poison
@GuyLogen5 жыл бұрын
Redmist 78 I’d say meta critic is worse than rotten tomatoes. The average rating on rotten tomatoes seem pretty accurate with the quality of a movie whereas it’s the tomato meter that either makes an average movie seem godly or an okay movie seem like the worse thing ever made. Metacritic however, you can have users review bomb a game for the stupidest of reasons and certain “critics” would just ate on a game or like a game simply because of a single story element that happened even if the game has great gameplay and a good story besides that one part.

Just a quick shout out to that intro - a KZbinr with a pretty big platform genuinely going out there to encourage you to support other you tubers not only to subscribe to them but to watch their videos and like them too to help build the community. It’s a shame there isn’t more of this out there, also became a patreon for ACG today and I couldn’t be happier to support a channel 😊

Thanks for the review! I was intrigued, but the motion blur and just how movement in the game looks overall doesn't go too well with my motion sickness. Not being able to turn motion blur off just kills any game for me, unfortunately.

ACG probably won't see this comment, but I have to give credit where it's due. I've watched dozens of ACG's reviews, and I can tell in this one he tries to do things differently and it shows, making it one of the better narrated reviews that I've seen from the channel. 1. Noticeable slow-down of pace when speaking (esp. at the beginning, then, towards the end, he sorta goes back to rapping monotonously) 2. Finally some changes in voice inflections at chritical moments. Intonations matter a lot, and I could hear him putting effort into this area. Definitelly a move in the right direction. 3. Fewer jokes in this one. Which is really good because they almost never land (sorry), in my humble subjective opinion of course. Overall, I enjoyed this one much more than his previous work. And I know he always puts a lot of work in his scripts (and it always shows). Now finally, seems like the presentation is starting to catch up.
