I tried before voice control with Voice Commando in Elite Dangerous, create voice pack from voice engine with effect of robots style, but it's ok for meditative solo gameplay, for active game with friends it's hard. Even your command will be recognised fast, you should make it a lot of time for fast action.

I've not played that game, however it can be used for anything. You could in theory use it as an AI that controls your PC... it sits in the background and does what you tell it to do. You of course need to programme the commands but that was easy enough. I made the AI's brief for NMS.

You can use it for anything. It runs in the background. You could literally use it for your PC's own AI and set run commands that are activated by your voice commands.

At the moment it works in English and German. But I wonder if I told the AI to reply in just French whether it would work. There are so many things I want to experiment with.

The trade route stuff/pulling data from websites is borderline cheating. It's a pretty significant advantage other players can't get in the way an AI can instantly.

Not everyone will be using and nobody can compete with software that does it automatically and, I would assume, pulls from more than one source at a time or will be made to by someone. We're starting to get heavily into third party software territory here. Voice commands are one thing. It's cool and immersive but at least not a benefit over typical control methods. Pulling data that has a direct advantageous impact on gameplay is different.

@Psychobob I think you would have a point with a fast paced competitive game, but you're literally hauling trade goods. I'm learning nothing I wouldn't be using my mobile phone to do it's just a bit quicker and has an RP element to it. I would argue that the voice commands give you more of an advantage as you can execute commands with your voice while focusing on the HOTAS when in a combat situation without pushing buttons.

@@DeadPixelGaming I can bind every control in SC to my sticks or M+K and use them WAY faster than with a voice command. Voice commands are just another type of control method but not really advantageous in any meaningful way. It's really all about the advantage you gain over someone who isn't using the software. It doesn't matter what the advantage is, just that it exists at all. Everyone playing the game can tab out and look up the same info. Not everyone can buy, run the software or will even be aware of it. CIG's only options will be to ban it, integrate it or watch the game die while they do nothing. Looking up trade routes doesn't seem like much but it's definitely a step through a door that no gamer should even want to knock on.
