like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, kzbin.infoUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

Just recently purchased a 55 in TV series by Vizio. Pretty happy with the TV overall. The picture is stunning and comparable to most of the high contrast televisions out today. I am controlling most of my home lighting and the Vizio with a Google home. I can tell it to turn on the television to a particular Channel or tell it to play Spotify to a particular Channel and it'll turn on the TV and do as told.

Hello for everyone trying to turn on Samsung TV with Alexa try this if you haven't already because this help me out and finally I'm able to turn on my Samsung TV with Alexa so I just deleted the SmartThings app on the Google play store and re-downloaded it and add my TV back to the SmartThings app and it now works like a charm. I can do everything like turn off/on TV, change channels, increase/lower the volume etc.

hello. i just bought a new samsung tv, with alexa built in. im looking at samsung sound bars now. i am old and have trouble hearing diaglog, and am wondering if the tv has alexa, do i hae to get an alexa enabled soundbar? seems to me i can skip that feature, since the tv has alexa. i dont think i need a subwoofer either, as i hear the highs better, and avoid bass. the tv has atmos, so i am thinking about the samsung hw55b, as i spent a lot on the tv. thanks.

I would recommend going to your play store to be sure it's installed on the device. Do this by opening the Play Store, then search for SmartThingsApp. Select the app and you should have an ‘Install’ button to select. If it’s already installed on the device then it will say ‘Open’ instead. Tap this to be taken to the app. Still having issues? If your Playstore account is logged into the computer, you can also visit this link here where you’ll be taken to the Desktop version of the PlayStore. same I have a Samsung series 6 and it seems after a few minutes of being turned off it disconnects from the wifi so when you ask Alexa to turn on tv it can’t recognize it. Also for me when I first set up smartthings I was able to switch inputs and volume with Alexa but after turning everything off I can’t control inputs etc at all

Very nice. This is the procedure I finally used a few days ago. There's an alternative procedure you can use by logging into Amazon Prime, and adding your (Samsung TV) "Authorization Code." I wasn't able to find the code with the correct number of digits that works.

Thank you. This 71 y.o. geezer had to re-do it a few times, because of fast (but correct) instructions. Got it right though, and everything works. Just one thing I noticed. I'm hooked up to DISH, via their Joey (for this secondary TV). It turns the TV on perfectly, but when turning it off, it turns it off as directed, but doesn't turn off the bouncing DISH screensaver. Hmmm! So I just push the bottom little red "TV" button directly under the somewhat larger "power" red button (on DISH remote). Wallah! Mine is a 3 y.o. 65" Samsung Smart TV. This is great. Now, can you do a video on getting Alexa to control your security system? Mine is a cheapo Kangaroo w/its own app. You just got a new subscriber who even clicked your links above, since my primary TV is a 2020 QLED 55" Samsung Smart TV 4K w/a bluetooth button.

If your TV is older than current year. You are limited to On/Off. 2019 is when Samsung added support for Alexa/Google Home.

Cables boxes control Cable boxes that is then sent to the TV via video signal. As of right now they can't be controlled as they don't have the smart home integration, at least to my knowledge.
