Controlled Burn: Fall 2021

Each spring and fall, certified crews conduct controlled burns across hundreds of acres throughout the preserves. Safety is our highest priority.
Controlled burns are the most efficient, economical tool available to manage Lake County's natural communities. Without fire, non-native, invasive species such as buckthorn and honeysuckle invade local habitats and shade out native plants.
